Yes, you can run water over it (tape with image attached) or let it sit in soapy water. The idea is for the paper to be gone and the image appears on the tape like a film. This is what Carina does. I find sometimes the image will not transfer.
As I understand it, Jon just tears the image from the page with the tape, then keeps adding layers to the collage of other torn images. The paper is still attached to the tape, but the effect is torn & fragmented.
I don't mean to speak for them, but I am pretty sure I have it down.
when doing the tape technique, i usually tape over what i want and run it under the faucet and remove the paper . Is that the same as the soapy water technique? I thought this was what jon was already doing... hmm.
I like this technique too, but don't like the shiny tapeyness - quick though.
I know, Vizma. I do very few of them. But I have to say using Carina's technique of letting the tape transfer sit in soapy water so the image (hopefully) adheres to the clear tape can produce amazing results. That's in case anyone reading this might want to try the techniques. Jon Foster's ripped tape technique is a time-tested fav also.
TMUP- I have so many unfinished pieces ready for the next exhibition.
Speaking of techniques, I don't have the patience for that either, gimme the instant stick and rip tape transfer method of JF anyday...
No wonder, Ana.
I did a number of things with C's technique too and was thrilled. But the time & patience was beyond my low threshold.
Thanks DVS, I used Carina's famous transfer method on this one, which i really like the end result, but it takes so long!
Ana, you outdid yourself with this, IMHO. Brilliant!
Viz, sometimes I think most of what I do is for that big exhibition at The Museum of Unfinished Projects.
vizma you don't owe me, i am very behind on sending mailart to anyone due to an annoying knitting project that i need to finish!
