Slavoj Žižek: philosopher with Panic Ideology Syndrome (PIS)

In 2003, Žižek made a prescient observation to explain how the US under George Bush borrowed a plot twist from Alfred Hitchcock to justify the invasion of Iraq. He called it the "Iraqi McGuffin." Now, what is a McGuffin? Two men who have never met before run into each other on a train. One is dressed as a chocolate covered doughnut. That, says Žižek, is a McGuffin.
