Thank you! I found a website claiming to list 10,000 bird poems, so now I have 10,001 - that should keep me going!

Ooh - a literary bird! Try Ted Hughes one day? You'll find lots of crows, hawks, cocks, even macaws, and, of course an owl 'cos they get everywhere:

"When cats run home and light is come,

And dew is cold upon the ground,

And the far-off stream is dumb,

And the whirring sail goes round,

And the whirring sail goes round;

Alone and warming his five wits,

The white owl in the belfry sits."
