I've sent something to each of my friends as I get them but they are mostly international and mail seems to be very slow to get there so everyday I have an empty mailbox which saddens me a little. Maybe you could send me something good so I can smile at my mailbox and I promise to return the favor.  Happy New Years!

    Canto XLV

    BY EZRA POUND

    With Usura

With usura hath no man a house of good stone
each block cut smooth and well fitting
that design might cover their face,
    with usura
hath no man a painted paradise on his church wall
    harpes et luz
    or where virgin receiveth message
    and halo projects from incision,
    with usura
seeth no man Gonzaga his heirs and his concubines
no picture is made to endure nor to live with
but it is made to sell and sell quickly
    with usura, sin against nature,
is thy bread ever more of stale rags
is thy bread dry as paper,
with no mountain wheat, no strong flour
with usura the line grows thick
with usura is no clear demarcation
and no man can find site for his dwelling.
Stonecutter is kept from his tone
weaver is kept from his loom
    WITH USURA
    wool comes not to market
sheep bringeth no gain with usura
    Usura is a murrain, usura
blunteth the needle in the maid’s hand
and stoppeth the spinner’s cunning. Pietro Lombardo
    came not by usura
    Duccio came not by usura
nor Pier della Francesca; Zuan Bellin’ not by usura
    nor was ‘La Calunnia’ painted.
Came not by usura Angelico; came not Ambrogio Praedis,
Came no church of cut stone signed: Adamo me fecit.
    Not by usura St. Trophime
    Not by usura Saint Hilaire,
    Usura rusteth the chisel
It rusteth the craft and the craftsman
It gnaweth the thread in the loom
    None learneth to weave gold in her pattern;
Azure hath a canker by usura; cramoisi is unbroidered
    Emerald findeth no Memling
Usura slayeth the child in the womb
It stayeth the young man’s courting
It hath brought palsey to bed, lyeth
between the young bride and her bridegroom
                                   CONTRA NATURAM
They have brought whores for Eleusis
    Corpses are set to banquet
    at behest of usura.

N.B. Usury: A charge for the use of purchasing power, levied without regard to production; often without regard to the possibilities of production. (Hence the failure of the Medici bank.)

My arm & hand are slowly getting better, my handwriting is improving. I've been managing some collages lately, hopefully the painting & drawing again are not too far off.

Anytime! It was included on the original Japanese release of 'Ten'. I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, but I think PJ did a great job with the song.

Thanks for the maybe miraculous Elgin Shroud shred and the nice welcome to the IUOMA. Nice surprise and perfect timing too! I could definitely use some life changing activity :)

A Takamine G Series acoustic/electric, now I FINALLY have a left handed 6 string! It sounds great with my Dunlop Hendrix Wah-Wah.

A friend of mine in college had a Cry-Baby that I just absolutely loved. Unfortunately our house was burglarized back in August, so I'm currently without any means of recording, except plugging a vocal mic into the PC (which is in no way ideal).

My mother got to see Hendrix twice, but always had a huge crush on Clapton (since his days in the Yardbirds). She actually got to meet him at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for my Grandpa, at which point he went on & on about how much of an influence my Grandpa was to him, Mom was completely stunned & speechless. (Sorry for rambling, that just still cracks me up.)

My Dad always refers to Ginger as one of the "Perpetual Motion Drummers" of the 60's, the other being Keith Moon, of course. I have gotten to see Clapton live, it was about 20 years ago, but one HELL of a show! Alas, "Tales of Brave Ulysses" was not in the set, "Sunshine of Your Love" & "White Room" were though.

I plan on getting together with one of my oldest friends & goofing around with his music gear so that I can include some 'Texas Art Rock' CDs in my mailings.

Our tickets for the Xmas run in San Francisco arrived the day Jerry died...    :(

I've seen the rest of the group together, with Bruce Hornsby on keys, doing the majority of Jerry's vocals.

My first non-country music concert was when my mom took me to see Jethro Tull in 7th grade.

I'm familiar with Blue Cheer. My parents always gave me grief about knowing "their" music better than they did. That was my teenage rebellion, listening to their albums at full volume, I mean really, how could they get mad about that? <smirk> It wasn't until Pearl Jam came along that I actually started listening to newer music. Up until that point it was just The Beatles, Tull, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, Arlo Guthrie, CSN, Cream, Blind Faith, Country Joe & the Fish, The Who, The Allman Brothers, etc.  :)
