Eduardo - thank you for White Noise :-) -Its in the World is a Town Album :-) X
  • De Villo Sloan

White noise is such a great concept - Eduardo never let's us down
  • liketelevisionsnow

TY for the 2 collages you sent... I got them today - they are beautiful!
  • De Villo Sloan

Hi Eduardo, interesting work as always. White noise - disambiguation - used in music recording - you probably know that - also in corporate buildings to create work spaces for maximum efficiency - artificial light, processed air, processed sound. Found a wik thing not too helpful

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_noise

  • whitenoise is pure randomness.

that's about all you need to know.

you can see it in TV static,

hear it by playing a data CD on the stereo.

    very cool stuff.

  • De Villo Sloan

That helps a lot, SH. A music guy I know mentioned pink noise too. I don't know how many flavors it comes in.
  • pink noise is white noise with a low pass filter.

    same thing, more bass.

  • De Villo Sloan

    you're hired, SH
  • i coded Blum Blum Shub Cryptographically Secure Pseudorandom Number Generator using GMP several years back; i've spent a lot of time thinking about randomness before and since then - i've used it for many applications, including creating pictures like this:

as well as running through a dampening filter to create synthetic ocean wave sounds. ;-D

  • what kind of health benefits do i have? ;-D
  • De Villo Sloan

I know - you got a better offer on the DK road tour. Can't match that. Eduardo is going to wonder wtf we're doing on his message board.
  • yah, what did he want to know about white noise in the first place?
  • De Villo Sloan

Somewhere here he posted a piece called "White Noise." I spotted the reference right away too. Glad to see your stuff - I've always been hoping someone could apply it in art.
  • art, math, science, they're all the same thing.

it's all in your perspective! ;-D

(the subjective nature of asemic writing #31/30)

  • De Villo Sloan

I'm SO glad you explained this. I asked a physics major about tv snow once. This guy was far from whacked. He said something like: "It's debris from The Big Bang traveling from the center of the universe." I accepted that and never pursued it further.
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Thank you muchly, Eduardo! TWO minimal pieces came, plus the Add 'n Pass. i will be sending it on soon. I find your minimal art fascinating! thank you xx

Also, I blogged it on the Main Page and at ZALOP and MINIMAL ;-)

  • Mim Golub Scalin

Mixing up Mim and Nadine, I like that - she and I might need to do a comgination mailing. Glad you liked my mail art piece. Yes, as I play with the paper layers, I do think seascape or landscape. My titles for them are from a book about mathematics written by my neighbor. They're mysterious to me, as I'm not a maths person.
  • Mim Golub Scalin

ooops "combination" not comgination. Or maybe that's combination and imagination together.
  • Nadine Wendell-Mojica

What a kick to be confused with MIM. I love her and she and I are mucho simpatica. But she's way better.
  • liketelevisionsnow

It's my pleasure!  I would send you real cupcakes but I'm sure the customs agents would steal them and eat them!
