IUOMA mail artists, Mim Golub Scalin and Kemal Ozyurt...what a place for a cafe: roof top of Richmond Hotel overlooking Istanbul, Bosphorus and the Golden horn!

  • Eduardo Cardoso

Today I spent the day on the streets colecting textures. I'm rediscovering the frottage technique to use as background so I can work collages upon them. :D
  • Helder Coelho Dias

It is with great pleasure that I will outline and appeal, which is already available all information in the first Mail Art Call that im organized in partnership with the owner of the historic coffee "Cabana dos Parodiantes  " in Salvaterra de Magos, Portugal.

The Theme is "Planet Earth is a large island with a huge ocean around! "

A new event was created here on IUOMA, where you can access all detailed information, or visit the attached link created for this Mail Art Call

I would like that the event become a great success, then I am counting on your participation and   would like on behalf of the organizers, to thank all those who choose to participate with your Mail Art pieces.

    Good day to everyone! ^_^

Have a happy mail art day! :D

    Eduardo.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Thanks Eduardo! May every day be a good mail art day for you, too!

Here at the Cafe, I have switched to drinking  ice tea...under the olive tree ;-)

  • David Stafford

I upgraded and crossed platforms recently from a PC to a Mac but now my Canon 8000 printer which I'm perfectly happy with doesn't get along with the mac. They fight, they bicker and then produce a lousy print. What printers are people using with their macs that make them happy....The inkjets I've been looking at all seem to have convincing detractors on Amazon. Are there any good inkjets out there for art work that can take a variety of paper stocks? Please advise....
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

I hope someone let's us know about their compatible inkjet printer for a Mac...I have switched, too, to this great little "white leopard"MacBook but must run to the the pc in the hot city to print out anything. 'Would be nice to go Mac 100%. Someone...let us know?
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Summer Solstice today! Longest day of the year and

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Thanks Susan...I was hoping there would be a good HP to use.

I'll check out what's available and affordable. Thanks!

  • Strelnikov (Стрельников)

I still know of one actual 1960s era functioning photo booth, in a drugstore in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado.   Perhaps I need to make a trip over the mountain.....
  • Ruud Janssen

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Thank you, Enzo for the announcement, something in the mail to you soon!
  • Nancy Bell Scott

Katerina, I'm not quite getting "the elopement is not tidy" in the call below, any chance you do get it and can explain to me?
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

La FuGa NoN è Mai oRDiNaTa...can also be translated:

    "The escape is never planned"

    or

"The escape is never orderly" (though "not tidy" is great!)

...and also the meaning of an "elopement" never planned,

or being spontaneous...if we start to stretch the meaning.

Fun to let our imagination be free to make mail art for this!

  • Nancy Bell Scott

The "not tidy" part is great, I agree.  Thank you, Katerina, for giving me more meanings to imagine from, very nice of you!  I will send work also.
  • _guroga

Thanks, thanks you, Katerina!!! Look here, your mail art!!!  Your art is very beautiful :) :) :)

    A hug ...

  • Nancy Bell Scott

Enzo:  correction:  not 1 but 2 works are coming to you from me, to go out in the mail tomorrow, Monday.  Your theme/s were inspiring.
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Thank you, Enzo, for posting it on your blog.

May you have great success with your project:

Escape is not always "ordinary"...my translation ;-)

    ...leave to the bird!

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

I mean: "...leave it to the bird! " ΦΥΓΕ! ;-)

Cafe members...meet you at the Teahouse of the August Moon tonight!

  • Rod Summers / VEC

Hey!  Finally IUOMA is sending me notifications again!

It has been a summer fraught with problems.  I'll meet you in the teahouse tonight and promise not to tell you about them.

Thinking about you a lot just lately Kate, hoping things were bearable (like a 40 degree sun and crumbling economy)

    bestest greets

  • Ruud Janssen

The full moon is about to come out....
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

It's a Full Moon, Rod, and other friends...nothing is crumbling here,

    all is "cool" tonight ;-)

  • Rod Summers / VEC

Iets lekkers.  Today I harvested the first batch of the Sweet Corn from my garden and whilst listening to 'Disraeli Gears' by Cream I blanched them and put them in the freezer.  Sweet?  I should say so!

  • Nancy Bell Scott

New slogan, Corn Is Beautiful! Look at it! (Thom, take note.) "Disraeli Gears" -- all right, another pre-generation-xer (whatever that means).

    Greetings from Paul Tillia

  • Judy Skolnick

Paul is an artist, gallery owner and mailartist in Palkane, Finland who has been with us for years.  He always send a great holiday greeting painting and I tried to copy it to the cafe for the walls but it didn't work. He was also involved with a group of artist selected to put art work at the Olympics in Bejing.
