Love your stamp "Oh Boy"!! and Lazy bunny's Dragon - it's my year!!! Been waiting forever for the Year of the Dragon to come around again - the parade in San Francisco should be super special this year!!

    Lazybunny, your dragon looks great!

Oh Boy, is that a rubber/eraser you used for that stamp? That black cutting tool is just lovely.

I'm with Angie- Print! Print! (ps Angie, did you make that gorgeous square cat print on your first cat art to me? And how?)

And Bear, how's your carving going? Any fingers left??

    I want a. No.127 :'(
  • Oh Boy

I really like using Staedtler Mars Plastic Grand erasers. I will often carve both sides but Staedtler made a change putting their raised logo on one side. I remove the printed logo with an alcohol based cleaner before carving.

  • Karen Champlin

I love the rubber stamp of the rubber stamp!  Good work Oh Boy.

Dick Blick E-Z-Cut Printing Blocks are good and cheap but you need to be sure there are no defects in the surface before you carve.

  • vizma bruns

Oh Boy! Great info, thanks very much. Love the stamp in progress piece for Dillon, and the orange tool, hope that's not a rare vintage one!

Go on Bear, you know you want to!!! It's all art!

  • Oh Boy

The orange Speedball Linoleum Cutter is from 1978. The end cap is not threaded like the red, green, yellow or blue ones sold at www.dickblick.com. They also sell the cutters separately, wood handles and the Koh-I-Noor  no 127 N pen holders.

Oh Boy, Your impressions in progress look great. I love the variety of them all together. What are you printing with? Just typical rubber stamping inkpads, or something else?

  • Oh Boy

The impressions in progress were inked with standard ink pads, nothing special. The ones with multiple colors and over stamping were done with lightest colors first.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Great eraser stamps, Oh Boy!

I use the small Staedler eraser...I have a whole little cardboard box of them.

And now i have carved most on both sides, and starting to carve the narrow sides (like the one with tree branches) and a few are even carved on the tiny ends.

This eraser is a good soft texture and easy to carve and I use stamp pads for inking.

Bravo ! I'm off to the dollar store in search of cheap, semi hard, carvable, erasers !
  • Eduardo Cardoso

    Carved this one today. ^_^

It's always so much fun to see other people's carved stamps.  Oh Boy - that rubber stamp image is really cool. :D  Mei mei, your dragon stamp is awesome - and I also love the way you stylized the character for dragon to fit your art!  I need to do something like that with the character for rabbit (I'm working on the documentation for the rabbit year show now. ;) )  Daniel, carving is so much fun and such an interesting way of looking at an image.  Like everyone has already said, it's addictive!  Last time I counted, I've carved over 2500!  (Though I did start quite a long time ago - late 70's!)

  • Carla Cryptic

OH!  And Katerina, I love that you are carving all of the sides of the erasers!  Not to mention that you make so many word stamps.  Really cool. :D  I have seen many of them on your mail art and enjoyed them then, as well.

  • Carina

One of my first stamps! I used both sides of the rubberstamp, one for colouring and one for carving the fox.

  • Linda Pelati

    strong!

  • Oh Boy

Carina Granlund that is an awesome carving.

  • vizma bruns

Nice one Carina....we must've been chopping at the same time!

  • vizma bruns

Hi Stempelen group, please lend me your eyes and advice. I'm making a version of a stamp to point to the address on an envelope using Elvis doing the Jailhouse Rock, but it's looking a bit too iconic...Would it be better to chop off all the bits radiating from him? And just have the figure? I don't like it how it is....any advice would be great!

  • Ruud Janssen

Loose the radiation, that way when you stamp, you can let him dance......

  • vizma bruns

Very diplomatic Ruud!  I think you're right, thank you.

  • Daniel Wayne Qualls (BEAR)

    Love it !
  • Poison Label Productions

i say loose every other radiation...

  • vizma bruns

Thanks guys, I might play with some white out and see what looks good before I start chopping!

  • Daniel Wayne Qualls (BEAR)

    I think I love the excited rays \~\^/~/ !!!!!!!!!!
  • vizma bruns

Well...it would be less work for me to keep them there!! Maybe I'll just use it as it is for now! Good to hear from you Bear!!!!!

  • Daniel Wayne Qualls (BEAR)

I feel bad for not working on your stamp , all I have been doing is trying to keep my job straight , a lot to learn !
  • vizma bruns

    my latest choppings!

    Red socks optional.

  • vizma bruns

Thanks girls, I think the scream will come in handy for mail artworks! Especially with zombies! ;)

  • Samuel Montalvetti

  • Susan Walker

Hi new here. Does this group allow stamps already made? i don't carve my own.

    Thanks Susan

  • Oh Boy
