I've been away for a while - and was shocked to learn this sad news. I popped a piece of mail to him in the postbox not more than a day or two ago. It will never be received. I will miss him. His art and poetry is remarkable.
Guido loved music of many kinds, and I loved our music-passion exchanges, like this one:
Hi Nancy,
Funny that you mention Tabula Rasa, I finished the second stage of a large painting while listening to it and am playing with the idea to call the painting SILENTIUM (second part of TR).
The adagio from Mozart he adapted is from Mozart's Piano sonata K280. He arranged it for violin, cello and piano.
Gorecki, yes his 3d symphony is !!!! You will like also his 3d string quartet. He wrote that especially for the Kronos Quartet.
Another great modern string quartet is Messiaen's quartet for the end of time (also linked with the Holocaust). I knew Messiaen mainly for his transcriptions of bird music but this quartet is something else!
I like also Lou Harrison where in certain pieces you hear the influence of Indonesian gamelan.
Just listened on the radio experimental music, electronics and sounds made by plants and cactuses, something John Cage already had done. Also the sun makes music, there is a Japanese guy (forgot his name) who experiments with that.
When I say radio I mean TV. Since a few months I have digital TV but you can use it also to listen to digital radio stations. I am always listening to classical radio (2 Flemish and 1 French). It's more than just classical music, it's also contemporary music, jazz, world music, poetry programs, theme programs and so on
Guido
Mmm, that is beautiful Nancy!
I still can't really believe it... Not sure why I can't seem to accept the fact - it's like - well, his spirit was just so strong...
"Tribute to Janine Fourez", Guido wrote in the note which accompanied this collage.
Madame Fourez was his upstairs neighbour, they lived in the same house during 12 years, he wrote in his photography blog.
Born 1926, she passed away in January 2013, and Guido dedicated this ceremony to her.
