Nothing is happening in this Group. I am ending it by suspending all the members, including you. Let me know if you (Lynne?) want to take over the management of the Group and breathe some new life into it. Regards, Val

Bonjour! Theresa: 'Mog' is English slang for a cat. I don't know where it comes from. There is a famous series of children's books about Mog the Cat: I used to read them to my kids.
Diane: it's NOT just cats that have these problems. I do. IF YOU ARE OF A SENSITIVE DISPOSITION LOOK AWAY NOW. Welcome back: I knew you would be curious!
I was christened Valentine. Valentine was my mother's maiden name. Her father's name was Valentino -- he was Spanish. (My children are called Susannah Valentine and David valentine -- an attempt to keep the name going. We can trace the family back 13 generations to 1625)
It wasn't easy growing up in a working class town with a name like Valentine when everyone else was called Tom, Dick & Harry (or John, Paul & George -- but not Ringo). It got shortened to Val. Professionally for a while I was known as VM Herman. Then I became Valentine Herman. And all went well until...
.... I moved to Holland. Val means fall, in Dutch. Ha! But I could live with that, and all went well again until...
...I moved to France, only to find out that Valentine (with an e) was a female name) and Valentin (without an e) was a male name. Easy, you might think -- just drop the last e. But French bureaucracy is such that it ain't that easy. (French bureaucracy is such that NOTHING is easy) so I became Mark.
Now I am sort of known as Val, Valentine, Mark, Valentine Mark, or to all of you in IUOMA That Anglo French Idiot Who Writes Long and Incomprehsible Messages.
No wonder Trouble has, well, troubles.
Also, JE Sweefoo (get it?)
The End
Take a walk on the Wild Side (of the cemetry), Lou.
Circa 1980 we bought a neutered one-time male kitten in Belgium. 14 years later we discoverd that he had originally been a she and 'Tom' became 'Thomasina'. (By that time the kids had grown up and this change to the mog was not a problem.)
Last year we were adopted by a Siamese cat that we called 'Trouble', who certainly lives up to his name. When we realised that he had finally moved in with us we took him to a vet to get some shots, and a passport (don't ask). The vet didn't couldn't tell: a) if Trouble was a he or a she, or b) how old (s)he was.
I subsequently decided that Trouble was a 4-year old male cat.
I hope that the vet is more confident about the age and sex of any partner that he might have.
Regards, JE Sweefoo
