It happened right now... the flux:us -mail art project reached its next phase. After collecting the contributions of many maiol art artists here i prepered and selected and packed the envelopes and boxes.

In january 2023 the 120 boxes will be distributed to customers. So hopefully it will generate attention for mail art in general and it will lead to new mail art artists.

Thanks to all mail art artists who joined the project. if you receive one or another mail art based on this project, it would be very nice if you send me a kind of documentation for the project.

Lets start a great journey in 2023. Have fun and enjoy.

hello...

... to all who joined already and to all who are thinking about joining this project,

lets document a bit whats going on behind the scene and have fun.

i received first piles of collage material. i mounted between 16 and 20 piles per artist.

I prepared a few envelopes...

i prepared 120 pieces of collage on MDF. Each piece contains material of a huge collage form 2018, done by people from Europe and Latin America in the artist residence CASAdelDRAGON.

I labeled the envelopes with addresses from artists participating in the project (if i received the confirmation paper as well! - left side of the photo) and i stored one bag with collage material from the original big collage and one pile of one artist in the envelope.

i will store this packed envelopes now till i can pack envelop no. 120... at the moment 32 envelopes are ready for the next step.

Some questions i got on the way (FAQ):

Q: Is it important that i send one DINA4?

A: No. It should be only enough material to create 16 piles for 16 boxes inside the project of artsurprise. You are free to send me whatever size if the collage material is "something typical" for you.

Q: Can i send more than one sheet?

A: YES. BUT i will use only a part for this project. The idea is to invite as many as possible to join this FLUX:US - project.

Q: Do i need this confirmation sheet to fill out and send to you really?

A: YES. Without i will have no permission to store your data online and this is part of the project.

Q: Is it right that later people have to BUY a box of artsurprise to receive a part of my collage material, a ready-made collage, the envelope, my address and an insert with instrauctions to create a new collage and the invitation to send this result to me?

A: YES. The money will be used to finance the project. As you see above a lot of material later in the box...

Q: I like collage works. Is it possible to join the artsurprise project as an artist and to publish my own series of collage inside of this project?

A: YES. Have a look here.

Q: I am a printmaker. Could i send a DINA4 print (by agreeing that it will be cutted into 16 pieces or more)?

A:YES. And... it will be cutted! :)

from you one piece of din a4 or some cut outs which represent more or less the surface of one din a 4 sheet, i will cut in little pieces.

hello friends, got a request with the question about the content or quality of the sheet of paper. here is the answer:

it should be "useful" material to be used for collage out of your stock. the background. i assume that every artist in the world of mail art has a kind of  collection of paper material (s)he collect for further use. based on the region it might contain local language, local colors and it will transport some regional "flawor".

so maybe you have a box with paper. if you prepare for your next paper art work you might search for some things in it to be inspired. i mean that box... and one sheet is ok. beside the work you want to send to me just one of this raw material, and than it will spread over the world in the artsurprise project and maybe.... you get some back and you will enjoy the creativity of an unknown new born mail artist...

maybe you ink some papr or you normally other intervention, manipulation. so you transport something with high quantity to something with your personal style? why not, send me one of this pieces.

the first mail art artist had delivered some of his own artist stamps and some of other artists. great as well.

the idea is to invite the new creative person to use the material, to create something out of it and to send it to others, including the artist who offered this piece of paper as an initial trigger to be creative.
