Event Description

What do you remember about school? Playtimes, friends, teachers, dinnertime, perhaps lessons you loved or hated? Education students studying Concepts of Education have been reflecting on their memories of school. The starting point was to create 5 postcards to represent 5 different memories. The postcards were blogged and shared during the course, but not judged or assessed. The students then went on to tell their stories and eventually write their reflective accounts and theorise the memories.

The postcard idea came out of a discussion between e-learning advisor and long-established mailart enthusiast, Andy Hoang, and the tutor and recent mailart enthusiast, Sue Smedley. Mailart is a democratic, non-commercial way for artists (and those who might not describe themselves as artists) to share their artwork - in the post.

Please come along and see over 200 postcards. The students’ artwork is creative and individual; the memories are strong and guaranteed to make you think.

Following the launch, the exhibition is open until 1st July 2012. Library opening hours: Monday-Friday 9.00am-7.00pm, Saturday 11.00am-6.00pm, Sunday closed. Thursday June 28th library closed for staff training.
