Thanks Sil -and Debra- for these considerations and remarks.
I agree with Sils conclusions:
'Keeping the books small and light, checking with the next recipient first, and allowing some books to circulate only within one country or region".
Hey Debra,
Yes, postage has become a real issue, especially with larger or heavier Add & Pass books. Keeping some within the US could certainly make participation more affordable.
I really enjoy collaborating, but the practical side also needs to remain manageable. I once received a book that cost more than €20 to send, and afterwards I never heard what happened to it, where it went next, or whether it was completed. That made the high postage feel rather disappointing.
For international projects, I try to keep everything below 10 × 14 cm, thin enough for a standard envelope, and within the lowest weight category. In Belgium, a standard international letter outside Europe costs €3.29 up to 50 g. If it is too large or thick, the price rises to €9.87, even at a similar weight.
The rules differ by country. In some neighbouring countries, the format matters less, but the lowest rate only covers 20 g. So one affordable system for everyone is difficult.
Keeping the books small and light, checking with the next recipient first, and allowing some books to circulate only within one country or region all seem sensible.
Greetings. I made two small A&P books to send out today. Anyone interested? I know there have been discussions regarding the expense of extra postage for these and I don’t want anyone to not participate due to that. Maybe keeping them to circulate in the US only would keep the cost lower than sending them overseas????? And checking with recipients first? Cheers, Debra
They do look beautiful, indeed.

Willemien, I am happy to receive one of the interactive books from Coco!
And is somebody interested to Add, that is, to interact in one of these "beautiful vibrant interactive participatory books" offered by Coco and that I received from her (see her presentation, hereunder)?
