All the way from The Netherlands, Carien van Hest's artistic contribution to the "Wreck This Journal (By US Postal Mail!)" project has arrived SAFE AND SOUND from across the ocean!
All the worries we harbored that the mail wouldn't make it have been blissfully dispelled!
Her contributions to this collaborative art project, shown here on pages 103 - 108, are bright, colorful, playful and Fun! At the end of this blog I'll share the envelope she sent them in, and a card inside, which I think were made with gel printing - something I've always admired but have not tried. They're GORGEOUS, so check them out, too!
If you'll observe the wear, shown above, on the back of page 103, I believe our artist friend DID in fact use the page as a SHOE! I'm guessing the shoe was utilized for the left foot based on the shape the wear occurs in. I have not deduced how she did this, however, as the page remains miraculously flat!
What is too difficult to see from this photo, however, are some shiny areas which indicate to me that horizontal sliding down a hallway may have taken place as well!
As you can see, Carien has nailed the colorful challenge ("Smoosh something colorful here.") using bright neon green fluffy feathers, golden dots and a golden leaf pattern on paper.
Do you suppose this is watercolor liquid, or maybe food coloring? I'm not sure, but I love the wild brightness of it!
Page 107 prompts the artist to "Cover this page using tape (make some kind of pattern)" and I'm digging how lively and vibrantly Carien has done so. Her page is bursting with motion and fun!
And so are her interlaced toes!
What an exciting last few pages of our collaborative "wrecking"! Below are pictures of the gorgeous envelope she made along with a card she sent along, I'm sure you'll all love them too:
I like how she didn't allow the stamps to interrupt the dotted line!
Here is the classy, autumnal card that reminds me of leaves which she enclosed.
Thank you so much for 'wrecking this journal' with us, Carien!
