Wonderful Treasures from our Celestial Scribe

Starting with the envelope Patricio Duprat sent them in:Patricio promised me three treasures, and he included the three special items below.  But the envelope is very much a fourth treasure.  The tiny printing/writing around the edge of it just amazed me -- how is it possible someone can use a pen that small? -- and then a reading of it revealed that he had taken quotes from my IUOMA profile about mail art and also my art in general.  In the address-box picture you can see someone reading all about it!  To see this beautiful writing, and then find that Patricio pays attention so closely to people that he would print out their words to the world -- it surprised and delighted and touched me.  As an added bonus, I love every stamp he put on the envelope.

The treasures inside include this little booklet put together by Patricio:It contains a Bonfim Wish Ribbon, which according to the description below combines "the superstitious nature of African faiths with the miracle granting powers of Catholic Saints."  They used to be worn around the neck but today are "tied around the wrist with 3 knots.  A wish is made for each of the 3 knots tied.  Once the wish band falls off the wrist on its own, it is believed the 3 wishes will come true.  Worn by generations and generations, Bahia ribbons are a symbol of faith and good luck."  What a special gift, Patricio.  I will wear it and carefully choose my 3 wishes:

Then there was a colorful postcard, with celestial addresses and, on the back, a lovely hummingbird acting as carrier of celestial mail.  Patricio has apparently become completely The Celestial Scribe in a relatively short time!

It's a good thing he included the post-it explanation so I can fully understand exactly why hummingbirds are being used as celestial mail carriers.  Makes perfect sense.

The photo of the front of that postcard also includes the third treasure, which is a leaf so incredibly thin and delicate I can't believe it made it through the mail intact, but it did, and it is gorgeous:

This fragility of this leaf is almost beyond belief, yet it bends quite a ways without breaking.  What is it from, Patricio?  I love it.  I love all the treasures you sent, and thank you so very much.  You are a very friendly and most imaginative and talented Celestial Scribe!

Dear Celestial Scribe, that "she loves both, my happiness when producing mail art and the mail art I produce" is a great thing, and I am glad for you. You and Patricio both have my words and can divide them between you as you like. :--)

Nancy: I have just showed your words to my wife an a couple of people in the office. Firstly, it´s my perception that she is not longer in love with me.  It´s scribe´s time.  He is the very person to whom Janete devotes her love to.  At least, that´s what she said.  (she still doesn´t believe that I´m the scribe, but suspects there is one close to me.  Neverthless, I still have her attention and devotion).  She loves both, my happiness when producing mail art and the mail art I produced itself.  Last but not least.  it´s the Celestial Scribe who deserves your words, he is the driving force and the very mail artist behind Patricio.  The scribe is also who feeds hummingbirds, those who in fact make all this stuff a celestial issue.

Thanks all; I know others must be appreciating gifts from The Celestial Scribe but really had a strong urge to describe these, because it feels a bit like being touched with a magic wand. And I forgot to say that I once had an intense spiritual conversation with a hovering hummingbird out my window -- just a screen separating us by about 2 feet -- that lasted for 60-90 seconds, both of us facing each other and talking / making sounds. By the time he flew away I was in (happy) tears.

The ringing silence surrounding my head is the sound of being awestruck. ...wow.
