Wired from Marie Wintzer, Japan--Miryoku

Marie has sent a piece of Tokyo for me, bringing bring back memories of the hordes of electrical wires that hung across narrow and wide streets alike. Marie's use of sewing thread across an expressive photograph of a Japanese street in the evening is ingenious. Because of its size, it's intimate stuff, yet sparks questions of existence, encouraging us to think about where we are as we look at her work. Then she tosses in a map of France, an area representing where she grew up and I again ask myself, where am I? as I look at it. Defying time and dimension (there's that Tesseract concept again) I experience two distinct parts of the planet destined together in a mail art ensemble. Arigato gozaimasu!
