Transgressing the Pages: Special-special from Cheryl Penn in south Africa

Let me clarify this for all to read...it once was a artist book that has been "deconstructed" and sent out into the wonderful world of Mail Art. Lucky are we!!!

The pages are amazing, mysterious "images" that need reading and rereading! In the beginning:

Threads float and layers of textured papers, with musical notes introduce us to these wondrous pages...

A photographic image of what once was, an illusion of pages that were once "bound together"

and then those layered papers...fine texture, McCall's sewing pattern tissues!

But, to me, I begin to see hidden images, a mysterious figure coming forth?

and we continue to the center fold...rich and subtle...and my words appear:

"Just let the pages take off in flight"...and they soar high, Cheryl!

and in closing, the final page:

What can i say? I am "CHUFFED"! Tank you soooo much, Cheryl!

Ah, alas, I had to rush back to the hot city because of broken water pipes. Now have a new bathroom! But no time to go back to the seaside..though the weather is still summer HOT! Gotta start packing, leave on trip to Paris on Saturday...for two weeks (no take laptop...me away, away!)

Hey Katerina - thanks for blogging - FAB photo's - are you still under the olive tree?  Patterns that books follow - the way they SHOULD look - and then how one can MAKE them look.  Deconstructing the book - there seems to be a lot of great work in this area on IUOMA at the moment - including non-linear trashpo books???  Svenja - I'll answer your next mail with one :-) X
