Hi Erni, I do believe Tuli's death got press coverage in the US. I'm only confused because at the same time there was a Fugs reunion. Ed Sanders is still active and has lived in Woodstock (scene of the great music festival but also an arts community) for years. I'll get some links.

Thanks DK.

Thanks DVS, I guess I should have a FLICKr account. I'm pretty terrible at self promotion. A definate downfall. The beat poets right up my alley as hippie counterculture.  My Mother was a true Bohemian, but somehow later in life she turned Born Again Catholic and Right Winger! What in the world? I hope I've managed to recruit you guys into the Non Glam Movement. But just know that it has solid potential to turn into a cult. An industrial complex is breaking ground this week.  But isn't everything a cult? Please you guys, do go on and on about the beatnix. I always learn a lot from you

San Fran was the place to be then. Also heard so beat poets in my ol' Chicago town back, well, way back then. And the beginnings of Second City...in an old Chinese laundry shop.

(Never liked GLAM either, Herr Haptic...too flashy)

Exactly DK, Kerouac, Ginsberg, Burroughs.... Erni & I can go on about this for hours. I won't clog up your blog. He has pulled up this book with Tuli Kupferberg. Tuli was in Ed Sanders' band the Fugs. As I said, this can go on and on.

DK - you are turning out some mail-art classics. Too bad they aren't all in one place - I guess they are in your IUOMA portfolio

Thankx DVS. Are you guys talking about the beat poets?like Keroac?

DK - your No Glam Movement is another home run, IMHO. I don't know how you come up with these.

Erni, with your command of Schwitters and the Beat openness, it's a unique combination. Oh that is a juicy post you have there - including Phil Whalen, Robert Duncan, and Diane Di Prima. Oh in some quarters of San Francisco they's string who did that up for calling Robert Duncan a Beat, but that's our little world. Great stuff

Yip, ok, it's all just crap we made up. And it's about art. And I really meant it's community, not audience. I'm serious. And, like, I'd argue with a Minister of Propaganda?

nope, just some crap I made up.

Erni, your acceptance of the Beats endears you to some of us. That is, sadly, a debate that still has not ended.

I don't think there is an official Anti-Glam. I thought DK was talking about a trashy/flashy style "Glam Rockers" that might have started with started with people such as:

Or playing with the ambiguity that both are happening all the time at the SAME time.  Glitter just sugar coats that which needs to be stared in the face.  Shiny? yes blinding? yes that's the good and the bad.  Easter is a wonderful time for sure-one of my favorite seasons
