Received from Valentine Mark Herman, England/France--Royal Tokens

That stamp is just too precious--almost makes me want to shout, God Save the Queen

Inside the main envelope is a smaller envelope with its contents labeled:

Much of Val's mail art consists of envelopes not meant to be opened, but with contents like these, you know I have to see for myself exactly what these items look like:

The Windsor Castle wrapping paper--lovely

The (unused) Buckingham Palace toilet paper--magnificent. Val knows I love quirky mail art, but he has really outdone himself with these two royal treasures. Great patriotism and great sense of humor--a perfect marriage for mail art. Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Herman!

I stayed awake all night and made tea (the proper way) to watch the event.  I'm an out-of-the-closet Anglophile through and through.  Val- I'm happy to hear you celebrated too- I've seen tons of angry Brits on tv snarling about the whole event.  I thought it was a beautiful, positive bit of joyful news for once.

Bonjour Helen! A comment in one of today's British papers was very negative about The Hat. It reminded the readers that Princess B was 6th in line to the throne or 'only 5 dodgy oysters away from the throne'.

The Bonanza sounds like good fun. There were a few sort of similiarly themed events in the UK organised by republicans and anti-establishment groups, but with a slightly different spelling of the title. I leave it to you to work out what it might be* as i'm such a monarchist gentlemen that I can't utter it.

Regards, Val

*Erni B: if you read this, you'll see that it pretty much accords with your own sentiments

Fashion Note for Helen: I watched the Wedding on TV while wearing (from top to bottom) a Union Jack plastic bowler hat, a red t-shirt, white(ish) trousers, blue underwear, multi coloured striped socks, and black Doc Marten shoes. Yes, very patriotic, no, sorry, but I don't have a photo.

This outbreak of patriotism was occasioned by the fact that I was invited to watch the Wedding at the Hospice where my mother lives, and the staff there decided that one of my roles was to entertain the old folks; So i dressed up (a bit) but couldn't find a hat as bizarre as Princess Beatrixs'. I'm working on that though.

Glad those of you who received it liked what I sent you.

God save... (fininish this one yourself).

Regards, Val
