RECEIVED: Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) from Lesley Magwood-Fraser of the South African Mail-Art School (Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Lesley Magwood-Fraser (Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa)

March 9, 2011 - The South African Mail-Art School, established by Cheryl Penn and essentially based on Ray Johnson's New York Correspondence School model I think, is thriving and adding fresh ideas and influences to the eternal network. Lesley Magwood-Fraser is involved in ongoing collaborative book projects and also created these beautiful artist trading cards she sent. They reveal the potential for so many different kinds of approaches in this area. These ATCs are about two by three inches. Here is Lesley's note and some reverse side views:

You can see Lesley Magwood-Fraser is also an accomplished painter. Yes, I am a big fan of the South African Mail-Art School for sure. They also have nice envelopes and stamps:

Many thanks, Lesley Magwood-Fraser!

Wonderful to hear from members of the SA Mail-Art school. Lesley's work has me absolutely chuffed. I think DW might be Spider Man, or he might have anonymously submitted to the Mail-art Psychic today - I am not at liberty to tell.

Trading with Les - its a mail art treat :-) I saw some things that will soon be appearing in the post today - o, you'll all be VERY happy!!! Thanks for another great blog :-) Are you really Spider Man? Or is that just a general reading? If you are, I dont suppose you would tell us anyway! Interesting thought :-))

Thankyou for blogging De Villo! Glad it made it across the Atlantic without getting rained on, like lots of my work to Europe has.
