The final version of “The Fisherman’s hut” was drawn as a night scene.  Using charcoal to explore a range of dark tones, the atmosphere of a still, moonlit night was created.  The composition structure is based around an X with three vertical planes – the hut, the river, the trees and two horizontal planes – the sky and the land. The hut represents the silence of potential, but a creeping vine growing over the roof suggests that there may be barriers to it’s further development. The window is closed. The night is silent. Something will happen.
