I feel strongly about the atmosphere at IUOMA and really dislike any kind of bullying, trolling, stalking and spamming. By and large there seems to be a consensus, that mail artists are free spirits and nobody wants to do any policing. Ruud, the founder of IUOMA, has mostly refrained from interfering in the communication among members. But problems do arise, once in a while.

So, recently, I made these cards based on the now famous British World War poster "Keep Calm and Carry On". You can read about the history here. Rip-offs have become something of a meme. Fellow mail artist and brilliant typographer Keith Bates created the font, based on the original poster series. I used a poster generator to make them. I like the design, because it it speaks with "authority", but at the same time the contemporary use is very much tongue in cheek. The messages, I hope are strong, but polite.

Just like a football referee using the "Green Card" or "Red Card" as a warning and reminder of fair play these cards can be used here at IUOMA. If you feel that somebody is really overstepping the line of what is acceptable behaviour, you can send a card via private message or post it online. That way you do not have to get involved in a personal discussion, which often will make the problem worse.

So here is a selection, for all you members to use. If you can think of other slogans or want different colours, I am happy to help or you can make them yourself.

Although, I do hope these cards will not need to be used at all!

Wishing you lots of Love, Peace and Mail Art for 2014!

Thanks Double Kiss!

That was quick.

Darjeeling, please, without milk, sugar or lemon, and not too strong.

Can I have a biscuit, too, please?

HI Val, that's a lot of suggestions! My favourite is DRINK TEA - or should it be: HAVE A CUPPA and SEND MAIL ART.

But maybe non-British would not understand that.

"Mail Art Will Save Us All"

"Drink Tea & Send Mail Art"

"What Did YOU Do in the Great Mail Art War"

And, if you could redo the finger-pointing Lord Kitchener (?° poster "Your country needs YOU!", then

"Mail Art needs YOU!"
