FluxRus Mail-Art from Victoria Barvenko (Taganrog, Russia)

Victoria - 4.24.2014 - 1

Mail-art by IUOMA member Victoria Barvenko (Taganrog, Russia)

April 24, 2014 - While belated, I have for some time wanted to share this wonderful mail-art from FluxRus friend Victoria Barvenko. I follow with great interest all the spectacular Fluxus and mail-art activity in Russia, which includes visual poetry. Victoria Barvenko’s vispo talents are revealed in these pieces.

This piece – expressing hope for 2014 – makes masterful use of overstriking (found in concrete poetry) and a melding of letters, words and image.

Deepest thanks to FluxRus friend Victoria Barvenko. I look forward to sharing more mail-art and participating in new projects.

Thx Alicia, some might remember when Belka & Strelka were active on the IUOMA platform, about two years ago (equivalent of 49 years IUOMA time). Our FluxRus gals are still doing great things & are connected to the larger network. I think they go to the Chicago FluxFest annually. Taganrog is the birthplace of Anton Chekhov, BTW. "The Cherry Orchard" is sooo great.
