Diana Hale wins the Artistamp Creativity Award AGAIN!

Always a simple envelope...WITH A REALLY AMAZING PRIZE INSIDE!

Diana Hale proves herself to be a master artistamper...I bow before her creativity:

34?  THIRTY-FOUR??  What on earth could that be in reference to??!

A closer look might give you a hint:

The United States Postal Service used to print "Postage Due" stamps for mail that wasn't posted with enough postage fare. The fate of the mailed item then became the responsibility of the addressee—who could pay the fare if they wanted the mailed article delivered (or could pay it at their local post office to clear the account). These are a long-gone relic of the postal service. Now-a-days the mail is simply returned to the sender with cancelled postage, and the mail must be re-sent—not just with the additional postage, but with the original full amount of the postage fare if you want it delivered!)  "Postage Due" étiquettes are now collectible as historical ephemera.

Diana has mischievously re-created those étiquette stamps to say "JUSTICE DUE: 34 COUNTS" ...in reference to the fact that DONALD J. TRUMP IS A CONVICTED FELON and was CONVICTED BY A JURY OF HIS PEERS ON 34 COUNTS OF TAX FRAUD AND TAX EVASION. His sentencing in the case was postponed until after the November presidential election, and the judge, while maintaining the conviction, declined to apply ANY PENALTY, PRISON SENTENCE, FINANCIAL FINE, or ANY COMPENSATORY OR PENALIZING OR REFORMATORY JUDGEMENT UPON THE GUILTY CONVICT.  (In other words, the justice system COMPLETELY FAILED.) Anyone else convicted of so blatant and conclusive of a crime would have been sentenced to years of prison and/or restitution of unpaid funds.  But because Americans decided to elect a convicted felon, the judge went lenient...IN EXTREMIS.

Anyway...I love Diana's ribald protest of the INJUSTICE in Trump's case. Americans within the judicial and justice system like to say that "No one is above the law," ...which, unfortunately, is now patently an untrue statement. I wish more Americans were outraged by the circumstances and facts. Alas...

Artistic protest is one of the best ways to express one's First Amendment rights to Freedom of Speech and Opinion. For instance...look at this amazing woodcut that someone created, in which justice is imagined as having been fulfilled...

It's just amazing... hmmm....perhaps it would look lovely as some future mailart!

Thank you Diana for being a part of the rebellion, and holding truth to the flame!
