Janine, when I was growing up they used to run an old movie on tv called "Bedtime for Bonzo" about a guy raising a monkey. Of course, the human was a grade-B actor named Ronald Reagan. The monkey stole the show. Years later, we were very confused this grade-B Hollywood actor was President of the US. And there was no monkey.

Dustin! That really happened. The King decided he wanted to fight drugs (apparently oblivious to his own problem with prescription drugs or not being able to equate it with street drugs) and Nixon deputized him. Those are White House publicity photos. Yeah, it was whacked.

Hahaha. Elvis as a narcotics agent. That would just be hilarious. Could you imagine him trying to bust a crack den? He'd ask for a pipe!

DK doesn't like politics. Maybe we should stick to something more wholesome - like when Elvis volunteered to be a narcotics agent and President Nixon gave him a badge and everything. Now even Ray Johnson would like this.

Dustin, I'm not even necessarily pushing the LBJ theory. The JFK thing is extremely complex & you have all the Cuban & organized crime ties that are more solid.

I didn't think anyone would know what I was writing. LBJ is an absolutely fascinating character. There was a drive for power there. I got back even further to one of - I guess you'd call him - LBJ mentor. That was Gov. Huey Long of Louisiana. You had these charismatic figures in the south - Huey Long, LBJ, George Wallace who proposed a very different model of democracy. The general view is that they would have been dictators, and they were all stopped anyway. George Wallace was gunned down when he was running for president, of course so was Bobby Kennedy. Fascinating stuff. No, don't get me wrong, LBJ was probably a great man (he f___d up with Vietnam).

Funny, I'm reading LBJ's memoir, "Vantage Point." Good stuff so far. When I was working at the Presidential Library, a man came in during the opening of our revamped exhibits and was going on, and on about how LBJ planned the assassination so he could become President. The guy had to be kicked out. Also, we were serving cake for the opening, and he was chowing down on a slice whilst angrily calling LBJ bad names and such.

John Hinkley Jr. fits right in to Jodie Foster Appreciation Week. Or is it John Tinkler Jr.?

Being a conspiracy fan, I always paid close attention to the fact the Hinkley family were friends with the George Bush family - the father (former CIA head), who was then new VP under Ronald Reagan. The Bush-Hinkley connection is a known fact you can check. Now if Reagan had not survived, guess who would have become president? Another guy from Texas, just like LBJ after JFK. Was Hinkley yet another Manchurian Candidate? Only KDJ knows....

I do-==John Hinkley Jr. very strange. He was found to be insane, but he seems to have been pretty resourceful to be insane if you ask me
