Earthling, this is the last but certainly not the least welcome message to IUOMA you receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. When you joined IUOMA on 19/03 I was unable to welcome you on board. At the time I was in a Celestial Journey far beyond the Milky Way. Now, back to planet Earth, I´d love to be the other end if you wish to trade mail art with a celestial mail artist. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:
The Celestial Scribe
Terrene Embassy
Republik van Patland
Caixa Postal 24827
Curitiba-PR
80510-970
Brazil
I look forward to see a piece of yours in our terrene mailbox. I´ll do my homework after receiving your artwork. This is nothing less than a Celestial Promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland Official Envelope Provider.
Hello Medbh...Yeats Day greetings heading to Sligo soon.
PS: That is quite a creative assemblage that you sent to Guido!
Thank you Mebh !
Medbh,
I am from Brussels Belgium. You are confusing me with Jean-Claude Sarpi who has a mermaid project in Marseilles, France. But I am sure he will love your contribution for la galérie Le Lab.
Guido
About the text:
I was in Sligo a couple of years ago and made several Yeats tours organized by the tourist office. I have fond memories of our guide and his son. The guide quoted Yeats poems during the tours and put them into a geographical perspective, linked with the places and locations we visited. Amazing...
Hello Medbh,
Painted envelope I shall send to Paul
accompanied by a text I wrote:
SLIGO BLUES POEM by Guido Vermeulen, March 2014
This is the cave where Yeats slept
explained the Sligo guide to us.
Did he sleep in a cage?
someone from the tour group asked.
Maybe his house was one,
you decide that after our visit.
I smiled about the misunderstanding,
even small communication is difficult,
poems however are personal and universal
enigmas at the same time.
What are you thinking about?
The young son of the guide could read my old face.
What your father meant was that Yeats
slept and dreamed in these caves,
in the beauty of these mountains, in the green valleys,
in the nearby clouds, so near they touch our heads,
in the golden sunlight and the silvery moon one,
in the hearts of the people who have the privilege of living here,
in the soul of every one who reads him or has read him.
You really must love Mister Yeats?
Love dies naturally, I replied.
But the dreams of the dead are made of
spoken, written and abandoned poems.
Abandoned?
Mallarmé said that poets do not finish poems,
they only abandom them.
I add to that: it is a bit like the dead, they only abandon life.
Mister Yeats did that too, that’s why we are here today.
