Oh! I see you joined the Rabbit group! Thanks sweetie! :D
Thanks Ellen - what goes around comes around! :D I will send you some mail art this week. BTW, I was looking at what Camel wrote to you about what mail art can be and just wanted to add that those postcards you make are perfect examples of mail art so you're off to a good start already. One thing that I love about mail art calls with themes, which is another way mail art happens, is that I am often challenged to do something I wouldn't have done otherwise. For example, I don't drink coffee but someone here at IUOMA hosted a sort of 'what goes with a cup of coffee' call and I had to really stretch to think what to do. In the end, I did something I really loved and am proud of because I had to really think about it. Anyway, anything that goes through the mail counts! ;)

P.S. Please consider doing some rabbit art to send to my year-long Golden Rabbit call - you can read more about it and see some of what people have been sending at: Year of the Golden Rabbit Mail Art Call Results . It's a way for me to both celebrate and distract myself from turning 60 in a few weeks. ;)
I would love to answer the question you had - unfortunately, after i accepted your friend request - the note disappeared. I will answer based on what i remember from your question.
...........................
Art is in the eye of the beholder but mostly in the eye of the creator & some members on IUOMA may have a preference....
However, there is a group for just about every style/kind of art on the planet & if you do not see the one you are looking for - MAKE IT!!!
I personally like anything
It is an expression of yourself made specifically for me - it doesn't get much better than that...
As for what qualifies as mail art - i do not think there there is an answer for that.
So I will generalize :
If it goes thru the mail & can be seen - it is "mail art"
that may however still be to tight a box to place mail art inside.
I was told mail art is a way of exposing as many people as possible to art as it travels.
I am also a postcrossing member - so for me mail art is 5x7 or postcard size.
Having said that - i never restrict myself and have gotten some pretty crazy things in the mail.
Easter eggs filled with stuff - shreds of cardboard with serial killers on them - skull shapes and just about anything you can image & sometimes even more than you can imagine.
So - look thru the groups and join as many as you like...
Look thru the events & participate
The best way to get started is to just sit down & do something!
Most of all
HAVE FUN
