I like to look at all kinds of collages- and this use of everyday detritus is one that almost always gets my interest. I look at the layers, myself, to dig out the meaning- like an archeologist.I like your description of this piece. The metaphor of the Buddhist sutra works for me. Where did you mail this one?

good...thanks for the advice. the Heart Sutra is a Buddhist teaching, i think most featured by the Zen sect. thanks for your correspondence!

Bonsosir!

I don't see why you can't comment on your own piece -- everybody else does. In fact don't limit yourself to comments, 'favourite' (note 'proper' English spelling) it too.

What is the Heart Sutra? Anything to do with the Kamasutra? (No illustrations needed in your answer).

Why look for meaning -- especially if it isn't there?

Just enjoy the composition/collage.

I did!

can i comment on my own piece? (i'm new here)...i'm looking for meaning here with this trashy collage of found and selected objects and  texts. it begins with upside down 'puzzle answers' on top of Berkeley/Oakland street trash but it's foundation is the Heart Sutra. i think it's kind of like levels of consciousness, the superficial stuff, the buried stuff and the thing (the no thing) that transcends them...  this kind of work is lots of fun!
