Hello :-) Thank you for offering your interpretation, the story, and your experiences - it was a great read.
You raise a very good point from what that other person said - by sharing the expression to the public, we give up our right to demand they be interpreted only our way.
Now, previously in my artworks - prior to 2022, I used to not give any of my artworks titles and would include the fact of the matter in what seemed like a description of everything surround the artwork (which I still partially use now). The desciption would be the date and time I finished, followed by the metaphorical "forever alter" - which is a testament to how physical artworks alter in time and a constantly changing perception and physically from moment to moment. I mention this because of my self-awareness of interpretation in my artistic expressions, to the extent where I would'nt even include my own interpretation. I also sometimes liked to include the actions of what I was doing at the time, and the weather, for example: "warm temperature with a light breeze, sweating, looking around".
However, with this in mind, there seems to be a beauty in wanting to gain insight into why someone as a creative / artist titles something a specific way. I do find great interest in that nowerdays.
I also find there being beauty in being naïve as to what the artist intends, and - I purposely fall inbetween the bracket of shared interpretaion in abstract, and completely abstract, so that people can be varied and personal with their interpretations.
Over the years I have had wonderful experiences gaining insight into both these studious and more personal interpretations, and altogether, I cherish them equally :-)
Many thanks !
I really like it. Truly.
Excellently executed.
To me, this is like some kind of "Fluxus show." Or a theater play. A performance about mail-art. Magician's hands/gloves pop out of recycled boxes (mailboxes) and throw postcards high up into the air, like confetti. An energy circle and some other games forward them to their destinations. And the blue droplets are the audience. Or us, when we distance ourselves. Maybe I overdid it a bit this time.
But it truly created a great story for me.
PS If it’s any consolation, recently, as a visitor at a gallery exhibition, I spent half an hour loudly "interpreting" the meaning of "some abstraction" with people I had met for the first time. They found my story very interesting. Their eyes widened, and they held their breath. When I finally went quiet, someone told me those were "landscapes"... and I was genuinely confused, thinking, "What are these people making up?"🤔 Meanwhile, the whole time I was holding a catalog with a huge title that read "Landscapes" and the artist's name. I only realized this when I got home.🤭😄🤭
But as someone once said: by releasing our artistic expressions into the public, we give up the right to demand they be interpreted only our way.
