Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
Our project this year for the European Cultural Capital is
around paper.  We are looking for artists who work primarily around
or with paper.

We would like to highlight the objectives of the Barcelona Agreement by promoting solidarity, peace and above all artistic expression as a stimulus within Europe and the Mediterranean countries.

The Red Door Gallery is a digital ink edition project as well as print and at the end of the year, we
will be editing a calendar in the form of a perpetual calendar.
The perpetual art calendar will be illustrated by artists exhibiting during the European cultural capital year and into 2014.

Our official gallery is part of a project around paper called PAPer'Art Project that has
been organized by the GUDGI,  the Aix en Provence gallery association and has the Marseille-Provence European Cultural Capital official label.

We will be adding our personal touch by being innovative, pluridisciplinary and open to all artistic expressions.

The 'bouquet finale' of this edition project is to propose an art object in the way of a perpetual calender, a European Cultural capital reference website, and a blog that widens all its efforts.
The perpetual calendar will be in form of a travellor's sketchbook with quotes in English, French
and Arab.

Our project will continue into early 2014.

If you think you fit into our project and you would like to join
please read carefully the How to exhibit page and download the
pdf file.  There is a form to fill out at the bottom of the page.

Artists have to subscribe to the catalogue calender and
fill in the last page of the pdf file.

The word 'love' 愛 is not the same as 'want' 要 . There are thousands of words which sounds the same but have different meanings plus it can change again when placed with different ideogram. 中心 this mean centre, if two words are separated 中 means middle and 心 means heart. 'middle heart' becomes 'centre'. Kind of poetic. Chinese can be tricky to translate and best to avoid babelfish as I know from experience you do get weird translation. There's alot of Engrish in China they have full meaning.

Hong Kong is different as usual full English translation but not always as the case. 沙 田 means Sandy field but place is written as Sha Tin which rough pronunciation of the word.

In Cantonese the written words is not same as spoken while in Mandarin its the same.

Kind of confusing if you don't the language Chinese is not as clear cut as Roman languages such as French, Italian, Spanish etc. It is good to know another language besides English:)
