Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
I love the idea of making something and immediately sending it away to someone, for free, for fun. I usually take a day or less to make my cards and it suits my short attention span. It's very gratifying to hear that someone was both surprised and pleased by their small gift. I also like the occasional collaboration with other mail artists.

Yes, the seal for the wax is custom made (BacktoZero - a Hong Kong company I discovered on Twitter) and is my hanko, Chinese characters for my name Ryusho 龍昇.  Mail when you are so moved and when the time is right and there is actually time to do so.

Glad you liked the card, envelope and stamp. I rarely make this type of collage - I like how this group turned out. I don't know who the woman is, the picture is titled 'My Corsage' (1931), but about 15 minutes on google didn't help me track her name down.

  • Fast Eyes

About res- sorry, Toni- I have no news at all.

Hi Toni this is a very rare e mail.Sorry for not replying until now i hate computers  .I will send some art mail soon i tend to fall off the radar because of my job hope you are in this moment .Lester .

Sadly it isn't really very complicated, and there are no hidden secrets to protect.  It is a duo-monoprint (two monoprints one on the top of the other) using a Gelli plate.  The pattern is the pattern found on those plastic outdoor picnic holders for paper plates.  I simply pressed that into the ink spread on the Gelli plate thus removing that image from my ink which then creates the space for the bottom layer of paint to show through.  The woven texture of the card is from a purchased embossing folder which I then used on my emboss machine.  I am glad it's simplicity did not prevent it from being enjoyable.

Those all came from drawings I made. Originally the pink sluggo was staring into one of the little houses, kind of like an unwanted guest, somewhat ominous. The eyeball plants suggest a growing awareness. The guy busting up the pyramids by knocking off the tops (great all seeing eye, hierarchies) suggests populist revolt against the plutocracy and the establishment. Something along those lines.

Toni, thanks for the lovely envelope and card.  I haven't been getting much mail lately, so yours was much appreciated.  See you in the mail.

thank you Toni. occasionally it happens, maybe due to net maintenance, security or some network problems in ning depending on the areas, there was a similar problem in another ning i'm member. Ruud posted a note about it last week. today all is clear, like our weather at last a bit of sunshine in this rainy june...:-)

Thank you for your nice words about my page in the boekie. I don't even remember what it looked like now. My brain has been on overload for much too long. :-) But I'm glad you like it! I would love to work in another book....anytime. It's nice when one finds another person who has the same aesthetic. It's rare that I find that. Thanks again for the kind note.

  • Terry Owenby

Toni, I don't know if I responded to your comments about my circus journal. If I didn't, please accept my apologies. It appears I've been missing many comments on my page. :-( Thanks for your nice words about the journal. I loved making the cover and one page. I can't wait to see what you create!!

Thanks Toni! Preparing mail for you. Cheers!

Thanks Toni for your kind words! The butterfly sticker is actually a tape transfer. It's a (used) non-machinable US Postage Stamp. Tape transfer is a very easy fun technique that I 've just recently discovered myself. Have a creative wonderful day!
  • William M

hopefully the mod podge piece doesn't melt too much. i'm always happy to have tonipoet mail though. :)

    Hi Toni,

The child is Raymond Roussel, at age 3, sitting atop a swan, soon to be a Lion... I admire your art and you may take that side of the card as a homage to your own influence on what I hope will spill outta this skull of mine as I beat it against the wall of complacency

Sorry, I can write that kind of stuff forever, THATs what spills out of my skull after...
