1952 (when I sent a "Thankyou for my Birthday Present' to my Grandma, and illustrated it with a little drawing). Since then my Mail Art history has been, well, interesting
Oh Val I see I confused you by doing some mailart not last thing at night. Yesterday's was number 161 dogs' philosophy, a somewhat hasty but heatfelt sticker-construction. Hope the beach was beachy and monster-ish :>)
hi Val...the moral of these photo's is....never leave head-shots around with a bored person who only has dogs to converse with all day...*!*....I found a GREAT pin-up model book at the bookstore dating waaaaaayyyy back....couldn't resist buying it!
I worked for a company years ago and we loved to play jokes on each other by altering photos/cartoon/etc with actual co-workers....you never knew when you would walk into the break room and there you would be!!! All in good fun! Plus...we would TP each others cubicals ;o)
Hope you didn't get too sunburned while at the beach posing....hugs xxoo
Made it to the beach, huh? Yeah I went to the Carolina Beach in NC this past summer with a lot of friends. Basically sat around and did next to nothing, took some dips every day but that was it.
Hope you're well and enjoying the end of the summer. Working on some bigger items lately...I'll send you something "big" once I get caught up on a zine I'm working on. And yes, I'll send you a zine once I finish them.
Thanks for the warning, now I know what to pack, all those clothes that never see the sun here, both literarily and as a figure of speech. Love the hat on the pole.
Thank you for the great Manual/Map of Val, the Master of Sigean. This is really MailArt with surprises. So much to discover. Where can I book for 'In the steps of Herman'? Love it. Thank you.
Hi Val, I'm glad that you enjoyed the little "Everyday Beauty" booklet. It was an experiment, and I think that I'll make some more like it. I do need to go out and take some more photos ... especially while it's still summer!
Summer is my favorite season. Even though the winters in coastal California are very mild, and I shouldn't complain about them, I still prefer leaving my warm jacket and rain boots at home.
Hi Val and thanks. I was on yahoo IUOMA yahoo group for while since it was so quiet I moved to here. I'm not really new to mailart as I have sent and received postal works before. Haven't yet set up a mail art call maybe one day. Trying to figure out the format.
I do actually exist! ;) I'm sorry to hear the mail art you sent me got returned. I'm afraid you've got the wrong address number: it's 64 boulevard Diderot, not 62.
I've been very busy writing my thesis lately, but as soon as get some more free time I'll be sending you something :D
I'm glad you liked my mail art piece - but please note that my nom de plume is actually "Lestaret" - so I don't get in trouble by the main Company! I don't use a lot of film in my work, but like the format for mail art and will probably do some more - I'll look into the arty slides group too!
Don't leave the beach if you can help it! I am very close to the coast and try to spend as much time there as possible! I love your driftwood sculptures too!
Ahh so glad that you found it! It will be sent out for you Friday! Cant wait to see what I get back considering some of your art that I have looked at- doubly excited!

Hi Val, I'm doing great these days, with a lot of keep me busy and active. Your multilingual "Great Northern Bitter" card arrived today, and thanks so much!
As it happens, I put a little envelope in the mail to you this morning. I recently found a new kind of glossy sticker paper, so I printed up a bunch of my "cool neon" and IUOMA stickers. I'm sending you some along with a special surprise. More fun ......
Hi there VMH - your postcard arrived today - I love the vintage playing card! And I don't care to remember where I was in the 1980's - what happened in the 80's stays in the 80's!
And regards to you and all your sea monsters and hats and arty slides and commenty comments and lyrical lyrics. Enjoy Holland - the creatures will be there on your return :>) wherever there actually is...
Hi Val - It was a comment you made to Neil Gordon: "Bonjour! A question, if I may: is that curly yellow thing that you use as your image, one of those bits of plastic that you put in the centre of a (perhaps earlier juke box) 45 vinyl record to make it fit on a…"
re age: moi aussi. i still collect music, but it began w/ weekly (pubescent) allowance spent on 45s at Woolworth's. 7"s - 100-200 left I imagine, not counted the lps in yrs, probably abt. 1000 . but just too lazy to deal w/ the tt most of the time, & moving them was just: ugh! so switched to CDs. If the music is really special to me though, I still aim for the LP - the sound is much better. NOOO mp3s though (unless that's the only format I can get something OP in. (Yet I will search & search, often for yrs., to get a legit non-lossy copy)
I understand - as a collector, I have many vinyl only friends! Nonetheless, my fav. genre [although I have a big prob w/ labels] is "avant prog," and there are new wonders being released all the time, thus - well, I can't imagine not following it! I've had the same TT since graduating HS (technics)
I'm good...finally catching my breath after a chaotic couple of months.
Going away again...didn't you just get back from Holland? Wherever you go for whatver reason I wish you safe and funfilled travels xoxo
P.S. Had some storm damage last week and thought of you. Seems an Old Oak Walrus washed up on our deck...we don't really have fancy sea monsters in Alabama :)
I'm glad you got all the parts of my card and that the post service is so reliable! I'm impressed. The white things are milk box caps. I did that piece thinking about a meditation technique where you have to imagine the sound of one hand clapping. I tried to imagine looking through artificially created darkness. I've always thought that closed packagings are mysterious little places.
My thesis is about the history of fashion museums. Most of my friends think it's a boring subject, so I don't talk about it very much :P
Also, I've got your card! Thank you very much.
Tomorrow I'll be heading to Poland for some vacation time :D
I'm glad it has arrived. Sometimes it get lost so when I answer a mailart call. What I meant by Mandala a picture often a repeating patterns inside or circle. The name is Sansrit for circle and appears a lot in Buddha, Hindu art. Often used in meditations. I aim to send something at once or twice a month. I've joined postcrossing and regularly make and swap ATCS. I don't have a definited style it's eclectic mixed media collage. Sometimes I'll use slide frame. I'm currently on and off mailart wise.
I have been enjoying your latest sea monsters and hope you had a great time while away. I am thrilled to know my mail art arrived! I am having so much fun creating. My most recent finds have been paint swatches from a home improvement store that I am making into post card scenes. Clifford is an awesome name! And I find it hilarious that Bianca takes up most of your art studio desk when you are working. My Clifford is usually a snooze in a pile of rumpled blankets nearby when I am playing with paper. Talk soon and have a great day my friend. Christine
Hi Val...so glad your MA arrived...yes, the pond has all the little critters...geese, ducks, a crane or two, frogs, even a red fox has been seen hanging around this summer - he/she drives the dogs nuts :-)
I'm thinkin' that you need a new hat for our winter...what season is it in France?
