I love mail that doesn't ask for money, pitch credit cards or summons me for jury duty. I'm amazed and grateful for all the generosity of this community.
(Note: my website is under construction).
I'm glad you like it so much! I had a bunch of fun creating it too! The guardian angel theme of your mail art piece inspired it btw :) It's one of my favorites!
Bonjour Nadine! Thanks for a great envelope and the very funny card inside it. Me, dancing my life away? As if I would be so frivolous. As if I could get both, or all, of my feet to work together at the same time. But, hey, if I'm gonna have to dance, or even stand on one foot, then I insist that you'll be my partner. OK, partner?
And then we get to the snow bunnies. I told you NOT to mention them. What will the March Hare think?
Thanks again and regards, Val
PS I nearly forget to say it, but I'll be mailing you something back in a couple of days time, tee hee;
It's a mail box from Helsinki, our capital in Finland! :) It has a little hat of snow if you look closely! I took the photo a month ago when visiting...
well thank you and yes i would love to hear from you again.you need to know my spelling a little slow, but my arts not and i can say more with it then words sometime. i checked out your site too very nice.
I got your mail art today..Wooohooo!! I always giggle girlishly all the way into the house..anticipating "the opening"!! The cat ATC is wondetful and the "dream sequence" card is hallucingenic (sp?)...I may have to sleep on it to get a better interpretation (LOL)...
Will post on my blog soon, but just wanted to let you know it was received *!*
MANY thanks for the drawn box! Beautiful - I'm hoping now that you're planning on filling it??? It arrived with another box from John Held Jnr - something going on up there??? :-) X
Nadine ! What a nice lot came from you today, thank you. Never a dull moment. Thanks especially for the Reagan pc; I never did get enough of him. The 1955 card carved by your mother of the family--that is deeply precious. She must have been really something ...
The weird part - the other empty box I received... So I DIDNT think you'd lost it - I thought there was a Send an Empty Box Compulsion going on in the USA. O DEAR!!!! What was inside? The side had been split open and resealed by the po - how ANNOYING!! I have had a few books go missing lately too... :-( X
The thing is, your mind is interesting, so I figured it would give you a good time even if also a dangerous time. Just being logical. You know. But speed, that doesn't sit well for many of us, me included! You could take a slow trip, if you're not in a movie right now!
A tiny skeleton in a coffin in Nebraska. My guess is that was unexpected. It would make good mail art now, unless it's worth half a million. My dog in those days drove across country too, but not with me. Your dog was lucky.
Creeping people out and losing friends--well it's one way to keep your intimate population at a manageable level. I could have used it in my shop. Yes, Peaches was found running with a pack of wild dogs in Arizona and not faring well. A fellow student drove her back across the country to our school in his VW bug. Eventually I ended up with her. She went to classes with me and was well educated, and lived 19 years. She loved cars forever after her trip with Stewart, but I didn't have one all that time. So when walking down the street, she would jump into any stranger's car if the door was open. It was a helluva time getting her out.
Nadine! Thanks very much for sending me a drawing, I always love seeing your artworks blogged and now I have my very own! Yippee! Glad to have you as a new mail art friend in crazy Hollywood, return mail coming when inspiration hits...soon! X
Thanks for the Iowa City hamburger stand. I've actually been to Iowa City but never saw anything so cool. The reverse of the card is fabulous. The legs one was to strive for would now be considered too fat, oh those look like MY legs. The thin legs are the ones now strived for. How times change, eh?
Nadine! You wonderful person YOU *!*
I received your "red headed" mail art today along with a gorgeous layered ATC!!
I always wait to open your mail in the evening when I am relaxing with a cup of coffee, the dogs all settled, so I can just enjoy the moment *!*
Thank you for that last night ;)
Will blog soon....
Way late. I love that, "crazy interesting." Never had a school, no, except at age 10, forcing friends + siblings to pretend to be pupils in my basement. School meant Bard College in the tale you read a month ago or thereabouts. Today your Stan and Sylvia 1973 arrived--you must tell me who they are--relatives? What were you doing in Reno? Actually I'm almost sure you made them up, and they and the KNOTS in the KNOTTED pine walls are really great. Love it, thank you! Heh, know what you mean about the az stamps. They're beautiful, but I can't stand their politics either.
I recieved your wonderful envelope full of goodies. Muchas Gracias. About
the add and pass, it's yours. I finished adding and send it to you. Enjoy. had a lot of fun working on it. Thanks for your comments. Something on your way soon.
You see them everywhere, and in your dreams too, eh? Yah, went to Bard '68-'72, when it had only 500 students. There was a lost year beforehand; no details on that. You mean you shipped a whole, big desk? Or one of those old kid ones? That's devotion! So your daughter is still playing school in the basement at age 32? Has she ever been to you for therapy? By the way, mail art from Alicia arrived same day as yours--that's kind of amazing.
Insuring the profession, haha--well someone has to, right? I've done my share. Those desks would've done a lot of good in a nuclear bombing, eh? When bigger, we just stood in the hall facing our lockers and put our arms over our heads. Did you do that? That would've done even more good.
Use it as a fort--how perfect is that? My parents, who didn't argue nearly enough, did argue about the fallout shelter idea. Dad wanted to put one in our backyard in 1962; Mom didn't want to live through any of it. Mom won. Dad died at 90, Mom is still alive at 88. No fallout. What does it all mean? Ya got me. Soon I send you mail art, Nadine ~
Nadine, what an extra-beautiful deep plum envelope with drawings surrounds the one of your mother--it deserves a frame. And who can blame your mother for her claim? I believe her. It's such a waste of time, really. I'm tempted to do that myself--maybe going with dreadlocks would cut it. Thanks, Nadine ~
Her hair was exempt. That's a riot. I hope to fall short of my parents' ages--it gets to be a rough, exhausted road for many. I'd have given a whole lot to be able to spare my dad his last two awful years. Your mother sounds like a beauty guru I would actually consult. There aren't many, since I don't care.
