    Hi Val,

No rules on how much time I spend, as much as I can.   I know I have cut back a bit.  My new rule is to try to finish a piece in 1 hour, but this is not working.  It always takes longer than I think.

Big thanks Val for your mail art envelope number 1! Fantastic little gallery of fun art and stuff! As soon as I'm capable I'll take a photo to share. It's stinking hot today and I'm sunburnt from being stuck on a boat all day yesterday, very dramatic! Had to be towed to safety after being finally found. Just watching the tennis- Aussie open now and checking 100s of emails.

    Nice deux cha vos below!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Yes, "Bananas" is still in the works.  And I am glad I waited.  I like your new name.  dean

    Hi Val,

    thanks for your message.

I forgot to make a picture or scan of the mail art I sent you.

Can you scan it for me?

Then I can tell you how I made it, because I have sent out a lot ( ten of so?) last week,

so I don't remember which one you received.

    Greetings Emmy

  • Tallie Jones

Happy it arrived!  Well, I think if you read your end of the year e-mail about mail art destroying your life, and then look at the card, all the meaning you need will be clear.  If not, ask the cats.  In my experience, they usually know, but don't always tell.

    Bonjour Monsieur La Poste!

    Paid..not pais!! ;)

  • Topp & Dubio

We did. For three years we have curated exhibitions in the former Archive of the Ministery of Foreign Affairs in The Hague (also homebase of the Dutch branch of Art & Tennis Club of Kaliningrad).

Unfortunately it has been demolished last year. It was a perfect place for an exhibition on mail-art. We will upload a picture of The Archive soon.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Thanks for woods heads up.  I did 2 of them yesterday.  One funny, and one not so funny.  I have other woods ideas in the making, but those will be for someone else.  I think I'm ready for Bananas now.

The best part about moving a paper roll is the tea afterwards, and the satisfaction of a job well done.  I currently have positions open for bright young things (young being open to a variety of interpretations) to move the Pulp Roll.  - enjoy England :-) X

  • HELENA DAVID

Hi, thanks giving me to these important tips! I'll ask for help if necessary! Regards!

    Goedemorgen Val,

At that time the pound was very cheap for Dutch people and my husband and I booked a flight to Middlesbrough to cycle in the Northern part of England. We took our own cycles in the plane with us ( on the first row) We loved trains and the people working on them were so dedicated and nice.

    Regards Emmy

Yes, it seems like the US has become a pet disposable society...just this week, in Minnesota, 192 dogs were seized in (2) residences...all small breeds...

also, just in (1) shelter, in MO, they had 600 dogs in one month!!!  either strays or owner surrender...

That's why the no-kill Humane Societies are so important and all the work the Rescues do to find new, stable, loving homes for these guys...

Take care and hope you are enjoying Mum's home cooking!  Hugs to you and your family...

  • Tallie Jones

Thank you for the card!  I enjoyed all of the collected items.  How are you coming by things from the Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia?  Traveling Act?  I'm a fan of Eric Carle, as is my son (who's 2).  We have a CD of Carle reading - very interesting voice.

  • cheryl penn

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

  • Maria Fedorchuk

hello, Val! im happy it reached you =)) i am learning Japanese that's where i found my interest in etegami and the card you got is called etegami which means picture letter. It is one of the traditions in Japan - people draw and send cards to each other within the families and to friends. See you in mail again!

  • Cristian Sima

hello, val, "dry point" or "point seche" is to scratch with a needle on a plate...and print the drow...the plate is metall but may be a dur plastic...i apreciate your work and your interest...

                                      friendly,  cristian

  • Rod Summers / VEC

Hi Val,  No I can't make it to Paris for two reasons, I'm pretty broke right now (in sympathy with the rest of Europe) and I'm sick, age related loss of balance which with the drugs the doctors gave me means it's difficult to walk and impossible to ride my bike. Shit happens, I hope to recover quickly but am now just taking it easy.  Have a great fest in Paris, give a hug to everyone from me.

  • Cristian Sima

yes, val, this is a monoprint or monotyp...you can use many materials...thread...pieces of paper, lace, leafs impregnate in ink...is better if you have a press...

  • Cristian Sima

wonderfull your idea with photo the postal boxes...i like a lot...

  • Rod Summers / VEC

yes, if the medicine doesn't drive me crazy first!  I need to be fully recovered by the end of the month when I have appointments in Reykjavik which I really want to attend.  I'm sure I will make it.

    best greets

    rod

  • jon foster

No Mark, I haven't found religion, but I found a lot of old greetings cards from the 1950's. I basically cut up all of those cards and made "tape things" out of them. Old paper is just the best. I hope some of the other ones pop up on here, I thought they looked a little different from my other things. Anyway, can't wait for your next work.

  • Arac

Since I'm about to put out a mail call I thought it good karma to spend the day making submissions for others calls yesterday but between projects while online finding the next thing to spark my interest I started looking at pictures.  After looking at yours I became inspired to explore the world of slide art. Interesting, each image gave me new ideas so I started slide making, now to incorporate them into art...hmmm, the dilemma. Incorporate or make them the focus...I like the idea of both.  So, how do you attach the actual slide to your work? Here's my first one but I have many thoughts and lots of slides.  Hmmmmm potty humor or slide art, a new contender for a new genre perhaps :)

  • Gail Anderson

Valentine, thank you for favoriting my "Sing and Rejoice" collage!  I have made another collage for you and am getting it ready to mail right now.  Hope that you like it! - Gail Anderson
