1952 (when I sent a "Thankyou for my Birthday Present' to my Grandma, and illustrated it with a little drawing). Since then my Mail Art history has been, well, interesting
What are these Yangalang tangatang Lithuanian Pinga ponga references? Have you been hitting the juice??? Or haven't I had enough?!
About your son, I haven't seen him for a few days so I can't guarantee his health and safety, he went off with a bag of breadcrumbs and a spoon in the direction of the tunnel one morning. Maybe the breadcrumbs will sustain him for a few more days, I'll have to get around to checking on him soon. He's a good worker and digger, you might even get to meet up with him in the tunnel for Xmas if you put in more effort at your end.
I don't recommend swimming here unless you've had lots of practice, how many times have you done the Channel?
Today I almost sent your mail art without a stamp! Has that ever happened to you? So I went to the post office and asked for the nicest stamp witha cartoon of Santa at the beach, but he said no because it wasn't International. So now you'll get a boring and ugly stamp with a "Naivety" scene.
Grazie!!! é un mandolino di mio nonno , durante un'alluvione è andato distrutto , l'ho aggiustato un po' e poi l'ho usato per le mie installazioni... un abbraccio . bruno .
Bonsoir Monsieur Valentine! If You write "La Suède" my wife will keep it to herself. But as I watch my mail box very careful everytime I expect something from France I am not worried. Your Art will be in my hands.
...Vive La France et La Suède ...but not Le Canada et Le Danemark ;)
...that is not a "pretzel hat" you have here...it is clearly an obnoxious bow, and ribbon extravaganza...even for a princess...or prince. Pleazzzzzeee bring Santa baby here for the holiday season!
Ok, maybe I'm being too shallow, after all I did ask for your hand in friendship because you reminded me of my cat in a beret. And I wouldn't hesitate to accept friendship from the first toilet seat that requested it!!
Dearest Val, Back to serious biz now. Any sign of my mail yet? Shall I post it on my page so you can have a look? I think about half of my sent mail has gone walkabout..I'll have to get David (once you have sent him to me) to get a job at the post office and do some undercover work for me.
Dear Valentine, thank you very much for your comment and your post boxes. Let us create a group, but it's my first try and I don't know if I do this correct...
PARTY time has arrived already in Sigean? That's #390 and I am going to see how quickly i reach #1001! I am soooo happy that the Fashion Department found that adorable Santa cap for that adorable Valentine ;-)
Now, you really, really , really do not want those other 389 mall art cards, do you? (eh, some you already have:#20, 76, 133, 296,311, 362, and oh so many hundreds more that I didn't record with numbers ;-) You lucky ducky!
Hi Val...we are so happy for Wizard...he has found a very good home..Star is older so it may take longer for her to be adopted..yes, the rest of my crew are beasts, but they rule! George and I are servants!
You also have a very happy holidays...I am super happy that we are friends!
Love and Hugs.... *!*
Dear Analytic Cabinet of Dr Jung-Hermann and Company,
I would appreciate an answer to all of the above. One problem. The distance to the couch. Is is at all possible I can use one of my own while all the questions are answered? Any enlightenment and duck examination will be will be seen as a move towards Lack of Prevarication in Dream Land.
Your Assistance in this Regard is greatly appreciated.
Sorry it to so long to get back with you... I haven't checked into IUOMA since we hit Costa Rica. Impressive piece of info about teaching a CR president! Which one? Oscar Sanchez? He did a lot to help bring peace to Central America and to stand up to the US backed Contra and their dealings in Costa Rica. You should be very proud! As far as mailing something to me here...I don't have an address where I will be for any length of time, but I will be back in the States on Jan. 9, 2012 and I would love to hear from you then! In the meantime if you would like to hear about what we have been doing down here please check out my blog http://www.artofaletter.blogspot.com I have been posting about our adventures there. I hope all is well with you and that you are enjoying lots of goodness in the mail! Elle
Val, methinks your David has been peeping thru the granny's window next door. My pjs are black flannelette with orange hearts aflame...you'd better warn him as she grows cactus in the window boxes.
I had sent you a terribly witty, well thought out response to your carefully prepared analysis. It was very unfortunately swallowed by cyberspace which at the moment is waging war with 6 kiaat close. The mechanical duck and I are holding on by the skin of our teeth - him by his bill. Charles agreed - he said the duck could visit as they had a lot in common. The couch is covered with nguni hide. We have decided in the event of full cyber internet war, it will be the ideal camouflage place. The rest I cant remember and neither can the duck, but he does send his regards.
You forgot Pinka Stiletto Bruns. I may have to start an Occupy Waitpinga Group Here! Hey I noticed yesterday that there's an Occupy Adelaide tent city in the centre of Adelaide. But I was too busy to join them, must make chicks' calendar starring Val, must keep going...
Ahhhh, from the Queen (my mother-in-law). Lovely , my dear, simply lovely...and yes, I might be celebrating the holidays as you o kindly suggested. xxx much luv, ol' chap,
Valentine, I'll have to answer for Pinka, as she's spending the week in Adelaide. She's at that rebellious age, almost six for goodness sake! Mmm, sake..yes, might have to have a cup of sake. And I've forgotten your question.
Oh, yes I'll be taking pics of letter boxes and mail boxes, etc. Will do more research. Hey Val, how come you can take photos of letter boxes and you in your millinery finery, but you don't show us what art you receive???? Huh? I want to see if the glues I use are any good and if the mail arrives with all bits still attached. It's not JUST a fashion show here, you know.
Hi Val...glad you rcvd "Star"...the event wad a great success! Has a lot of interest in the pooches and had a great turn out for photos with Santa!
I picked up anothet foster while I was there... Gomez, a Puggle. He is so smart, loveable, friendly, and just want hugs and kind words... Gomez already has an application for adoption...WOW THAT WAS FAST! WE will see if the family is a fit....
When it comes to cruelty I am one of the Crusaders...or the Queen of Hearts...OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!!
Ah, Val, I was indeed thinking of Magritte et "C'est ci n'est pas un pipe." I have a couple more pipes to place before we leave for France on 2 Jan. Any mail that arrives after 31 Dec. I won't see until the end of February, yikes. However, I'll be mailing out from Paris.
Val, I didn't know you had such good legs!! What a lovely photo, the first time I've seen you smile. Maybe you should wear dresses more often! As for telling Dean, no worries there, as I don't know who that is. Is he another of your sons looking through my window??
Where do I get myself a minion to do all the computer stuff??
I left the duck at the gate. It wanted to byte the gardener named Bill. That left me in a lot of trouble and a huge dress with a funny head - see my problem?
My sister said that she saw you in a dream that you had/are having. Bit weird since you are asleep now, but she said that are you are having a dream right now about drowning in a river which turns into chocolate, or maybe it's a good dream? I asked her how she knew it was you and she said "from his hat", so it must be true. Maybe it's cos we've had 2 bottles of wine. Who knows? Sweet dreams...
Thank you, Val! That scrap study is about 4X6 inches - a smallish postcard. I had a good time with it - used all the leftover stuff sitting on my work table. Maybe I'll try again with results to you and Mad Madge.
Road Val !!! I am happy to inform that have received your envelope! Ur and we with Victoria will make our joint work with you!))) thanks, good-bye your friends from Russia with love!)))
Second Day of Christmas...still celebrating in Greece and will continue until the New Year and Epiphany on January 6. Just one big party! Holiday today like in the UK...everything closed, no postal service...just chillin'.
'Glad that ze kats got ze confetti...weee! Is it the extra "Cat New Year" card? Trouble and Bianca were not on our mailing list, but they and their master should get the card, me thinks ;-)
Hi Val, and I'm glad to hear that you liked the mail art that I sent. The photo on the food card is from a window display at a little toy shop in Berkeley, where they sell fake lobsters, jellyfish, fugu fishes, sharks, and sushi for the kids to play with. Sort of an upscale tea party, I guess!
You may also have noticed that this artwork is a little puzzle, and you can arrange the pieces any way that you like. I also sometimes use the pieces as mini-postcards.
About you are right!)) as Napoleon Banopard speaks: "in Russia there are no roads, there are directions!")) probably the envelope has mixed a direction, but nevertheless has got to the addressee to me with Victoria!)) Hi Hi. When we will carry out your task and we will put some the participation, certainly we will send you the PHOTO Result!)) Ur we are happy!!)))
The "crab" cap is too much...cannot stop laughing, Val! I'll be on the look out for any unusual headgear, here in Greece...although I am sure it will all be "Made in China".
Gald to see that someone sent you 300 more slide frames. So that means that I can wait to pack up and ship the 1,500 I have here, hmmm? Happy art making on slide frames in the New Year! xxx
Hi Val, I had a chance to look through your website. Very enjoyable! I really like how you play with stamps. I have always regarded them as little artworks and have often used them in my stuff but you are carrying stamps to a level way above me.
Cheers and don’t let the alcohol get the best of you! :)
Hey Val! Love the new get-up! I hope you keep that hat for the whole summer!
Yes, I got your message and had no idea who this English accented Frenchman was...until I saw your comment for me!! Ha ha ha!! What a trickster you are. You had us all confused!
Now, back to sartorial business...where did you get that Ab Fab hat??? I can see in your pics that you can barely stifle a laugh! I love it! I love all crabbery and often use a Craaw or two in my artworks!!
Off to the beach again for me now, nephew needs another surfing lesson!
I'm a little jealous yours may be a little cuter than ours. Even here younger hippies like them too...this is my son's first car that recently got passed down to me...YAY.
