Svenja, yes, I very much enjoy our art and message exchanges too, thank you--and I'm still getting the biggest kick out of Ray. Can't put the little fellow away. Today your asemics #5 arrived to me and it's just fantastic, as you must already know. You give so much to think about as well as admire aesthetically. I'm working on the next mail art for you ~
Your envelope arrived over the weekend, Svenja, and gave me a big kick (the good kind). Wehrli verrrrrry interesting, love the article, and the noseys, not to mention The Envelope. Yes it's still my b'day, for 11 more hours, thank you very much for all!
Photos say it all about Wehrli. They're fantastic! I love them and am very glad you sent them. Since they arrived, there is no end to looking at them, even though I am more like you when it comes to order. Makes our own worlds bigger to contemplate such things, though.
Remarkable, isn't it? It's extreme, yet some Wehrlis are very appealing even though foreign to my worldview. An antiquing friend told me he thinks people collect things because we have so little control over the world, and collecting allows people to make, in their own way, some semblance of order out of the chaos. The control part makes sense in a way, but then why do so many of us using our imagination come up with pictures that don't seem orderly at all to many people? "Order" means many different things to different individuals, but I suspect the subject is beyond order and my friend was focusing on only part of what drives people as collectors or artists.
Svenja, I prepared an envelope for you before knowing that you are moving. Do you think I can still post it with the old address? Or maybe I should stick the new one on top of it and not risk it?
Yes, I like the style of your work. Google translate comes in handy for the German. Although I lived in Germany for 3.5 years, those 38 letter words still do not come easy. Hope to see you soon in the mail.
Two months would be tragic lunacy. I hope for you only one week. We'll miss you till then. You'll need MA soonest at your new address, I'm on it. How exciting you'll have your own room for art!
Hmm, I don't remember what paper was included, Svenja--but if the note said "handmade paper," then yes I made it. Maybe describe more if that's not what it is? Or send me a quick scan. With all your spare time after your move! Good luck!
Oh yah, that's the stuff! There is tons left over from the 1990s. You're likely to see more in the future, since you like it. What good news that you sent something, thank you!
Svenja, maybe you're talking to too many Americans, because we can actually do that--put outgoing mail in our own mailbox and the postperson is supposed to pick it up while delivering our incoming mail. Not that they all remember to do so, ahem! If this is the first time you've ever done that with your outgoing mail, and it was a mistake, then you are under too much pressure. I should send you a portion of the beach for relaxation.
Hey Svenja :-) - sorry - I did NOT mean to send you two sets :-) - some got none and you got two :-)) - if you would like to do them I would love to have them of course - thank you XX
Here's a photo of the big honking mailbox we put on our studio/house, Svenja--as you can see, King Kong could get his mitts in there. (Not that I invite him over.) In the box you see an envelope to Cheryl, which was picked up by the mailman about an hour ago.
I LOVE what you sent me! LOVE it! Thank you so much! I can't read your note, can you clue me in? "I hope you like ___ ___ __-___?" Looks like "I hope you like Shek hissy as-thingies," but that can't be right, can it.
It was a handwriting problem only, Svenja, or a fat pen problem, but definitely not a word-existence problem. It makes perfect sense, plus I use "thingies" myself so it must be ok. Haha--but really! I do LOVE them and can't take them off the table next to the couch where I read and write on the laptop when not in the studio (other side of room).

Oh wow, Svenja, you're sending a book cover in return? I look forward to that, Very Much. I did pick out the one you have with you in mind--it did speak your name--and it makes me so happy that you love it. It's kind of weird to me that upon finding a lovable book cover I'm glad if the book is falling apart so I can use it. But must remember the impermanence of all things, and keep recycling, eh?
You're absolutely right. The eternal network gives eternal or prolonged life to all kinds of things that would otherwise disappear. That has to be one big reason I'm so drawn to it and to the other people drawn to it, like you.
Bonjour Germany ASI! Are you any good at mathematics? I'm trying to work out how many possible combinations I can make up of groups of 3 (double) and 4 (single) Arty Slides. As you will realise when you try and group and display them, there is a seeminly infinite number of combinations...and no 'best' ones. I have got people to spend quite a bit of time shuffling the Arty slides around to make different groupings. i wonder how many are possible...
Hey, thank you very much for the most classy Botticelli book cover--with a truly beautiful gold heart, no less. Wow. Does the PFG have a specific meaning? Not that I have hope you'll be straightforward with me on that ... :--}
That was straightforward, Svenja, with no secret. Thank you for letting me understand. :--} Those stamps must be wonderful--maybe wood--and anyway the lettering is super nice and unusual (for over here). Your comments about the trifold contribution are much appreciated too. I did all parts of it to be viewed vertically, as Judith had said it didn't matter. It looks like they'll be displayed horizontally, so I'm wishing that's how I'd done them, but c'est la vie, we might learn new things from looking at it sideways.
Beautiful stamps, Svenja, and those large wooden numbers are gorgeous! Thanks for the photo, now they are in my head (I like them to be there). I have a very big wood and bronze "A" print block (antique)--too big to use, so it hangs on the wall in my studio. Your trifold is very much admired too, as you saw. You always come up with unusual, original ideas.
