1952 (when I sent a "Thankyou for my Birthday Present' to my Grandma, and illustrated it with a little drawing). Since then my Mail Art history has been, well, interesting
Ok, Val, who is your bearded friend? I am stumped and need help for your new image ;-)
Sooooo happy that your Post Office Stories arrived. I was beginning to worry, as mail to France and Germany usually takes only 2 days. Whew! They are filled with YOUR creative and sensitive writings, I just glued a few pics, etc. 'Glad you like 'em! I had to make them, but really delayed...they should have been done before the summer even. Thank you for befriending ;-)
So I did some calculations for my first anniversary at IUOMA. I found out that I have sent 378 cards to 178 different people over the past year. I have sent you 28 cards. If I could do math I would get a percentage there for you, but I can't, so I won't.
Thank you! I am so glad you liked the ink portrait, I just posted a photo of that piece - I had forgotten to do that. YES Nick is involved in our IUOMA creations but not nearly as much as me at the moment, he is my artistic consultant :).
I cannot wait to see what awaits us from you in our mailbox next week. hank you and it's truly great to be IUOMA friends - see you in the mail very soon!
We are dead on with each other. I imagine that we send things and they meet somewhere in a mail...center, or something along the way. Got one from you today. I really like this one. Tomorrow I'm going to create a bunch of new stuff. Gonna be a great day.
I'm glad that you liked the card! I'm getting geared up for another trip to New York (in October) so it's very much on my mind.
Regarding the Chelsea Hotel: many famous artists, musicians, and writers lived and worked there, including Thomas Wolfe, Dylan Thomas, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen, Arthur Miller, Mark Twain, and a number of people who were associated with Andy Warhol's Factory. When we stayed there in 2009, the hotel was open to tourists as well as being a residential hotel. Alas, I've heard that it's no longer possible to rent rooms by the night, so I'm glad that I got the chance to do so.
We got your great card this week! Thank you so much, we love your colorful collage work it was entertaining and fun. We will be getting something in the mail to you very soon. Glad to be IUOMA friends and see you in the mail. Stay in touch! Sarah & Nick
I'm sure we will do better on the wine when you are around. Our vendanges starts this week, so yours must be soon as well. What? You never hear that Paris has it's our vineyard? Well it does and it is prefectly bottled with plastic corks and lovely label and ............. all sent to the United States. No one here will drink it. But it is a good time out none the less.
Happy you enjoyed Kat's & mine joint venture card. However, I think I did only the white bits.
Herman Melville and Moby my friend,...gotcha at the Palace! What a grand place, ol' chap! Thank you for this fun card. 'Wish you could have joined Dean and me in Paris. Well, we will just have to make plans to COME-TO-YOU! Watch out (and get the wine ready)!
Great to hear from you! To answer your questions a) I, Sarah am the one who has been making the mail art since beginning. Nick, my husband has been my sounding board and "creative director" but other than that he has yet to begin making his own pieces. He's a fantastic musician and sketcher so I'm trying to help him find the time as best I can. b) Jon Foster is our close friend, and YES he's a member of IUOMA. He has recommend we befriend you as soon as we joined, saying that you were pretty amazing and talented. :) Hope that answers your questions and helps you understand our work a little better. We're so excited the part of the IUOMA family and begin making more and more pieces to mail all over the world. You will be next, as we begin to work on a new piece to mail to you in France (and/or England). Let us know and take care!
Ohh! Thank you for the post card! I just got it today. I promise not to give up your secret lair. And Please thank Her Majesty for her contribution to the mail art card. She must be very busy, I'm flattered she took the time!
Bonsoir...(I was told on my trip to Normandy that after 5 p.m. ....now 5:55 p.m., one says good evening ;-) I ALWAYS collect banana stickers...usually we have only Chiquita BUT yesterday I spotted Dole! aha! Wouldn't it be nice to meet up with AnnaBanana? You did...see what I missed by not going to Maastricht :-( Me wanna read your story of banana sticker collecting!
ur funny dude.... we have been in the same groups & such since I started in IUOMA... but an intergalactic space bar visited by transcendental space portal is where we met in person
I'm so glad it got there. The postal person was a jerk about it and charged me $13 American dollars. I think he cheated me but then again I'm nuts. It was lumpy and they want to remain robots here and just get the same old stuff. Perhaps I'm not being charitable but they make VERY good money and I'm an old age pensioner (smile). The women with the six shooters is my favorite. I do collect old thrown away photos, particularly of disastrous Christmas's and weddings of the 80's or just weird people.Poetry-I've no idea.
That was quick, happy to know that No.311 arrived in Sigean,Val. By Dec.1, I shall have completed 365 cards for the project. If you go to the group "Mail art 365" you will see how all those participating have their mail art posted on a blog. When i get to #365.....I shall be very, very happy and give a sigh of "mission accomplished"!
Me liked the chocolates from this little shop in Rouen, yummy, hope you liked the 'aroma'!
Bonsoir! Thank you for the nice comment, we are waiting you mail art, hopefully it'll arrive soon. The exhibition will be held in next summer, hopefully you will be there, at the opening ceremony as well!
Hello Val! Thanks for your mailart. Actually it's quite useful as I'm bad at getting my bearings. By the way your Ukrainian is perfect. I've sent you my mailart to your UK address. Yulia
Dear Not-Very-Old-Super-Man?-Yellow-Blue-Man - have a FAB birthday - I received your Ek Het Jou Lief card yesterday - it mad me SMILE for the whole afternoon!!!! So I have to ask - Se jy dit omdat dis vaar, of will jy net mere pos he??? Ie - so you don't have to google - are you saying that because its real or just because you want more mail art? ;-) ??? WHATEVER the reason - happiest of B-Days to you :-) XX
Thank you, Val, for your "threatening" mail art card: "Send mail art ...or else"? Ha!
When and if you get to a computer in the UK...you should know by then that I have indeed followed your command, and sent mail art...to you, to Darlington even ;-)
Got something in the mail from you today...thanks as always. I guess you're in England right now, if I have my dates correct? Tell her majesty I said hello...I'm sure you'll see her.
I am a bit worried about my card, or two (another one in the mail to you today)...however it is big strike day or two, so maybe no Greek postal services. And then again, when I sent a postcard from London on Sept.28, it arrived October 17 in Greece!with oh great speed of 36-hour delivery to Germany or France. Why is that?
I just sent you an "experimental" card today.. to my surprise the italian post office accepted it, but to even bigger suprise they don't use stamps anymore, only lousy stickered prices.. They say they only distribute stamps to cigarette etc stores, but 0.75 eu stamps don't exist.. must find a way for next time.. best, W.
Bonjour Moby Dick! that is a-whale-of-a-pic you have here! 'Glad your post office stories are being loved! It was a joy to make the little boekie, your writing inspires! I see that you in southern France and in northern Italy really got hit by a deluge of rain? Floods and mudslides, ugly. We are fortunate to have a warm system stopping that ugly storm front from coming to Greece, so it is like summer these days, and they are perfect for this Greek holiday weekend.
I did get your message about the "thought" mail art...will be sending you some of kind soon ;-) Thank you for de-friending me so I avoid getting all the replies...so we shall be friends again.xx
Your stream of consciousness thoughts and free associating sound subversive, of course you can use the photo--V. entine, Thoughtman (uncensored and misunderstood)
