Ah, Bonjour "Henry the Eighth I am..." Alicia is my long term friend who I'm glad to say I turned on to this Art Post Card world. She's a legit artist as opposed to me who is an outsider but always love to mess about and have been self teaching myself for about  8 years now. Sorry for leading you on a wild goose chase. My son's paste up art can be seen on his web site; IAMMORLEY.com. He's more of a writer but is loving the world of street art. It's illegal to 'put up' in US and I just figured France would be more supportive. Perhaps a naviete assumption.

I do like your advice because I don't want to be a pest with some of the busy artists (yourself included) in sending them stuff if they are buried in cards by newbies like myself. "Oh, not ANOTHER card from that person". I realize there are plenty of people but some of you have such wonderful stuff. I guess all of it's wonderful really.

  • Nadine Wendell-Mojica

Once more I bother you Herman. It's funny but my son just got back from London where he did a show and paste up. He is represented by Banksy's original guy and his silk screens did  sell well. Street art is a big deal here.

I can only picture your town. I'm sure it's beautiful. Thanks for the encouragement. You're indeed generous. Now I'll go make some stuff and so expect a little something soooon!

  • val, meet martin:

today we have our chapter 3 test en francais et i will writye an essay about Monsieur Martin, the recycled zombie, who wants to go to france! I was hoping you would not mind housing him for his visit there, feed him well (he loves recycled brains) and take him around town and get some cutsie photographs of you and him frollicking in the streets of france! just don't get him drunk too often, he needs to study his french a lot, he has a really bad texan drawl! i will use the photos of him for my en classe final presentation! are you game?

you're free to have him listen to six tracks all you want with you! and old LP's as well, herman's hermits yourselves silly!

just make sure he gets back in one piece, or his parents will eat me alive.

    literally.

  • so you don't want Monsieur Martin to visit?

    i think he will cry.

  • he is very sensitive to rejection.

Be sure to have brains and mountain dew at the ready. lots of mountain dew. and WoW, if you can figure out how to turn off the screensaver! if not, Martin will help you with all of your computing needs, he is one SMARTZ.

my teacher adored your letter to monsieur martin, she likes humor, you should send her a letter in french sometime, i think she'd really love your personality! (and include some art, elle adore art!

Thank you for your kind words!  I hope it arrived safely to its destination.  I created it with actual colored pencils and mailed it naked.  It may have added color to other mail along the way!
  • Amy Irwen

"yes" to taking me off SMARTSIS list and "no-definately not" to any offence...I am really anxious to see how SMARTSIS turns out, so I'd still like to follow...is that "voyer-ism" (sp).. ????   Amy

It may take me a while to get settled so please be patient, and who knows what will be legal for us to look at, internet wise. I will be mailing out store bought cards and I'm going to try and take out a bunch of stuff to make things from when I get back home.

Hi Val, glad it arrived so quickly. Erni got his yesterday as well. I have the whole puzzle and the two of you were the first people to receive pieces. It would be cool if it could be reassembled at some point. Glad the cats are doing their jobs. Good point-would 'jigsawing' be a word? because if not it should be. I like that. We are in the process of trapping outdoor cats. A momma kitty had her kittens under our neighbors porch and we caught two of them and the mom so they can be fixed and adopted. Two little kittens are still out there (eight weeks old approx.) and we had a horrendous storm last night. We can't keep them, but will foster them until they can be adopted. Well, I look forward to getting mail from you always and good luck with your exhibit. would LOVE to
be there if only I could

I'm glad that you liked those fresh flowers from San Diego! I've used up all of those stickers that I made ... time to print more, I guess!
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Your girlfriend arrived today...she is blogged, too ;-)

Thank you, and for the nice Knight!

  • Ntk (Natalya Korolkova)

Glad I came. I am now in the Ukraine in KIEV.
  • Guido Vermeulen

    Bonsoir Val,

No I mail everyhting I make to mail artists:WYSIWYG you know. I don't see the point of keeping all my creations. The scans are for me the trace of my work. I try to mail only original works because I was fed up with receiving only copy art and the same copies were used as contributions to a whole pack of projects, that's like cheating to me. This got me in trouble because certain mail artists accused me of being a reactionary European bastard against copy art!!! I also am not interested in personal exhibitions anymore. I only want to participate in collective ones. Some galleries in Brussels who are interested in my work think I am crazy. Got another letter this week from a gallery begging me to mail them a CV and portfolio. I am going to reply I only want collective exhibitions and non commercial projects. That will cool them down, I'm sure...

    Guido

Sure, I'll be glad to send along some of my extra handmade stickers. I'm a little low these days, but I'll be making a fresh batch of a new design for an upcoming issue of Brain Cell, and I can make a dozen or so for you at the same time. Soon ......

Hi Val my mentor and thanks for the warm and friendly welcome. I have a question and I hope that you have an answer. What do you do with unwanted mail or messages? I just wanna know how to trash it. So the best to you and take care. AB

    HILTON  VALENTINE!

(I'm going public with this, Val! Please, don't let me be misunderstood!)

of the Animals, of course :

Baby, do you understand me now
Sometimes I feel a little mad
But don't you know that no one alive
    Can always be an angel
When things go wrong I seem to be bad....

But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

    Baby, sometimes I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
And sometimes it seems that all I have do is worry
Then you're bound to see my other side....

But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood.....
    ;-)

  • August Bjarnason

Bonjour to you to Val  my mentor and thanks for your suggestions. I did find a way in the ,,action" box to get rid of unwanted post. Again thanks, merci for your help and have a  continuing bonjour, AB.

re the Goddess Cards --  Did I suggest sending them on?  I think I meant just to add and pass the "my contemporary" blanks from Valery in Russia . . . .

Goddesses do love to live in France, so maybe you will have compassion on them and let them stay with you!

    xxoo

  • Jen Staggs

I got your latest piece today- Thank you!!  I'm off to finish my "5" project then I'll be on a scuba vacation for the next week.  So I'm not ignoring IUOMA, I'm just underwater.
  • Jen Staggs

I am going to do my best to create underwater mail art!  I teach scuba diving, so pool dives can get really boring and I've been known to get really creative.  I've played scuba poker, scuba twister, now scuba mail art!
  • EFTICHIA PETALA

    thank thank you very much

    i like your work

any way--- any time-- any day come and visit my studio

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

My set of gddess ATC came in the mail from em towsend, too. and there is a great one that you made, dear Val! So, I am keeping them in Greece (that is were goddesses are from originally, ya know) But I will send out mail art to others...you? eh, you get a "few" old postage stamps, right? ;-)

  • andytgeezer

Congrats on the milestone Val! I'm nowehere near that, not least because I allow myself to get distracted from the task by the lure of facilitating other swaps! I must be craaaaazy! Can't get enough of making the post go around though.

I do hope this auto-mailing does not interfere with your already prolific output

  • so do you want all of the art returned, or just the zombies?

also i'll send along the SMARTSI art if you want it!

i have one from bruno cassaglia, i think that's the only one so far.

  • Svenja Wahl

Dear Val, thank you for your welcome mail. Today I learned that I'm at the very beginning of mail art: I brought my first mail arts to the post office and the clerk put an absolutely terrible printed stamp just in the middle of my cards, urghs.

Yes, I would like to send you something, it will take a few days ...quite busy with the first artworks... all the best, Svenja

  • one for M. Martin, one for M. Val.

you two figure out which is for whom.
