Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
I have always loved exchanging art with other artists in my own country and around the world because it makes it possible for us to share our creations without having to do it through the gallery system. It stimulates self-expression and creates community while giving us all a way to get our art into the world.

    LIMITE, SCAMBIO, SEGNO
    LIMIT, EXCHANGE, SIGN
A tribute for the city of Portogruaro through a project involving art through mail. The keywords chosen as the theme are the motif of its foundation, joined in a common flow.

    Limit
    border between earth and water,
the river harbor and the trade routes,
the channels and the gardens of the palaces,
a constant reference to a change in system, material and colour.

    Exchange
not only of goods but also of colours and scents,
    artistic and architectural influences,
    mutual knowledge, therefore culture.

    Sign
a condition of consent expressed in gesture, the conclusion of an agreement,
a trace superimposed on many others:
whose meaning is beyond the sum of the parts.

Project by Rizoo Group, Tiziana Baracchi and Pro Loco di Portogruaro
    Format and dimension of work:
square of maximum size 21 X 21 cm
    No e-mail

No returns, no jury, no fee, no sales

    Exhibition in Portogruaro, 2010
    documentation online: www.rizoo.altervista.org
    info: daliobaracchi@hotmail.com – aurogentile@tiscali.it

Deadline to be received March 31, 2010

Hail Carla, I like it, in fact I like it a lot. Your reading is supreme, the bass is perfectly complimentary, I did not like the sax, you could have left that out for me.

    hugs
  • Rod Summers / VEC

Fine, you handle the raw emotion extremely well and the effect filter again is perfectly complimentary. I love the fact that your vocalisation renders musical instruments totally unnecessary. Thanks for cutting me in on it.
  • Alexandre Gomes Vilas Boas

    Thanks Carla!
I also really like your artwork/mailart!
This song was composed by a Brazilian singer well-known: Miltom Nascimento.
This song speaks of the friendship between a grasshopper and an ant.
In the video, it is sung and played by Simone, another great Brazilian singer.

Here, here are two links, one of the older version and other current 30 years after the original recording:

    Simone and Miltom Nascimento

    Greetings from Brazil!
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Thank you, Carla, it is good to be your friend.
  • Rod Summers / VEC

This recording makes me think you must be brilliant live! I would suggest you need to be recording with a real studio and a really hot sound engineer because there is obviously a lot more going on with your voice than your current recording technique... maybe you microphone... can handle.

Hi, thank you for feedback in the stamp group. I also like to communicate people from all over the world, esp from Bay Area, since I have been back and forth from there to Osaka, since 2000. So San Francisco is like my second home in my mind...
If you like, I may send you some card.

    >I received your mail yesterday Tomoe! Thanks so much! I'll be sending you something by this weekend.

That's good you got my mail. It should have been arrived earlier, maybe mail people taking more time with hot weather. ; ) No worries sending back right away, it was my return from you have sent me before. I posted one of the collage here at IUOMA, but I am glad you are happy to see it in real.

    Hello Carla,

Hope you are well. Just wondering if you have had time to work on the
Single cover, using the files I sent?
Don't worry if you are busy.

    all the musical best,
    Paul
  • P Ramsay

    Hello Carla,
yes - I sent you an email on the 11th of August before I went on holiday with a message and some Photoshop files. I tried to email you a couple of days ago and it bounced back to me with the message 'Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender'. I'm pleased to hear from you actaully as I was concerned. Shall I try to re-email you? best, Paul

    Hi Carla,

  • Valentine Mark Herman

Dear Friend Carla, I'm very much into Envelope Art. Would you like to receive one of my very special, snail French/US mail Envelopes, and in return, perhaps send me something? Greetings from the not-so-sunny-today south of France. Your Friend Val(entine Mark Herman)
  • Valentine Mark Herman

Hi Carla! My Envelope is in the post to you. DON'T open it -- because there is nothing inside it (apart from air from the South of France), and the art is ON the Envelope and NOT IN it. I hope you like the Envelope...and perhaps you'll send me something back, which would be very nice. Bon journée, Val
  • Valentine Mark Herman

Bonsoir! I look forward to receiving your envelope -- which won't be entirely empty as it will contain some CA air. I was born and bred in Darlington, Co. Durham, where my mother still lives -- it's a long way from Epsom. Since Darlington, I have lived in Colchester (4 years, plus another 5 years later), Ottawa (1 year), Denmark (3/4 year), Holland (24 years in Rotterdam and Maastricht) and have been in the south of France (Sigean -- between Perpignan and Narbonne) since 2001. I don't intend to move again -- ever! (But if you invite me to Berkeley I could be willing to make an exception!) Bon weekend and regards, Val

  • Marie Wintzer

Carla! I got your envelope, thank you so much! Just like Jen, the stamps crack me up, they are great! I won't have time to put it up on the blog before next year, as I am leaving for a vacation in a couple of days. But it will feature for sure!
  • Valentine Mark Herman

Hi! Digital novel: you only get a 3 or 4 word mention, so it's probably not wasting your time trying to find it -- but if you do, it's Chapter 10, not page 10. I have no idea how you can find it, nor how I ever managed to find it. Sorry, but I'm digitally hopeless. Regards, Val

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Wow! What you can do with black and white designs...amazing art, Carla! I love the transparent effect with your portraits, and the colors of the other, too. But of course the BLUE is for me to sink in to! Many thanks, they are beauties...will blog this on the Main Page. Love 'em all,

Ah, that would be the part where the Romans are contemplating crossing the river Maas at it's narrowest point (Maas-stricht).  I have the Romans speaking in the local dialect known as Maastricht's Plaat. :~)

Here is a photo of the installation from the performance (in an old Maastricht's wine cellar) that went with the audio:
