immenso azul!  lol  I only know opera Italian so when I saw that I immediately heard in my head 'immenso ptha! immenso ptha!!!' from Aida (how scary is that!?)

    Technique details please Sonja.

    Sea Stones

    started as painting ,

    using gold leaf

    and varnish,

    to tarnish,

    covered  in tissue,

    as glass,

    then the carved forms

    were made,

    gilded,

    aged,

    and

    red cottoned,

    stitched all together.

    et voila!

    smiley face!

I am very glad you liked it, Mariano.
  • Carla Cryptic

Oh my goodness! You've got to be kidding. hahaha"The creative genius" and "only 4,000,000 francs"! Ah, the early 60's.  This is why there was a need for  the women's movement. ;)

Oh mon Dieu! Tu dois être une blague. hahaha
"Le génie créatif"et "seulement 4.000.000 francs"! Ah, le début des années 60. C'est pourquoi il était nécessaire pour le mouvement des femmes. ;)

That YouTube video made me think of this piece I did in 2002 which just happens to be very blue! ;)
  • Carla Cryptic

Oh, and it's called "The New Oppression" by the way.
  • Carla Cryptic

Beautiful work, both of you! I love those blue irises - we get those in our back garden every once in a while from some stray bulbs we planted a few years ago.

I just realized you may not have seen my short film 'Jellies Resplendent' - talk about blue!  I also composed and performed the music.  (I took the video with a low-end camera but it's still worth it, I think - someday I'll go back with a better camera!).

    Carla in Blue - a recent self-portrait.
  • Rod Summers / VEC

I look at your portrait Carla I I think Miles¦~)

I took two superb photos this morning of the early morning light shining on a Venetian canal but it is green not blue, I'd put them here if Mariano said I could?

  • Rod Summers / VEC

Well I put this morning's photos on my own page as they were not blue! THEN I went for another walk this afternoon and, what do you know!? I found a blue boat. OK OK it's also a bit red but the blue... oh that blue! The light in Venice is a vision to behold.

    Lovely self portrait, Carla!
