No more food comments on this from me; Are we having a mailing or not? Who's in it?

    Regards, Val

  • Plush Possum Studio-Rose McGuinn

Looks like our numbers were decimated. If there are but two or three, shall we disband?

I'm hopeful things may turn around later on.

    Am i dreaming?

  • Valentine Mark Herman

There is something wrong with this Group. No one is really interested in what should be a really obvious and inspirational theme. I don't know why people join a Group and then do nothing about it. I also believe that Groups should only exist for a month -- after a first wave of enthusiasm, things grind to a halt, and the Groups should be wound up: this is a prime example of this. It's Maria's Group, and she has responsibility for it  -- although I strongly encouraged her to start it, and must share some of that responsibility.

I suggest this mailing is canned, because it just ain't worth doing on a small scale.

Perhaps the Group members don't like group mailings -- that I can understand, but I can't understand why they are not more inspired by Music and Mail Art.

    Frustratedly yours, Val

TO ANY AND ALL MEMBERS OF THE GROUP WHO MAY BE READING THIS......what do you want from this group, if anything? What are you prepared to contribute to this Group, if anything?

  • Plush Possum Studio-Rose McGuinn

I like your wording: "TO ANY AND ALL MEMBERS OF THE GROUP WHO MAY BE READING THIS......what do you want from this group, if anything? What are you prepared to contribute to this Group, if anything?"

Hope that gives us some more time!

For what it's worth, I do see more than one vitally interested gang here in groups which are ongoing, fresh, really hip. Nothing wrong with that. But wouldn't you want something to continue that had been going well enough for long whiles?

Let's not generalize away the idea some groups are livelier than this one.

  • Fleur Helsingor

Val, I'll be preparing two cards for you, including one for the Day of May, and I have your address in hand.

An old Cliff Richard song, called 'Summer Holiday':

"We're all going on a summer holiday
no more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on our summer holiday,
no more worries for me or you,
    for a week or two.

We're going where the sun shines brightly
we're going where the sea is blue.
we've all seen it on the movies,
now let's see if it's true.

    Everybody has a summer holiday
doin' things they always wanted to
So we're going on a summer holiday,
to make our dreams come true
    for me and you.
    for me and you. "

I'm going away, not exactly on a summer holiday, but I'll be back in a week or two.

I hope that you enjoy your summer.

    Regards, le tour de val

Here's a quick black and white postcard I made this weekend featuring an anonymous 60s rock band.
  • Guido Vermeulen

Painted envelope I amiled to Helen Daley in Australia.

Title "In the court of the Crimson King" refers to first LP of King Crimson. Have the CD now, extended one with alternate takes of certain songs. Favorite song: Epitaph

  • Cuan Miles

This was inspired by the music of South African jazz giant, Abdullah Ebrahim, or as he was known then, Dollar Brand.  The cigarette image is from a metal trading store sign that graces my studio.  For a sublime musical experience, try Sweet Basil Blues from the CD Blues for a Hip King.

    THE GREEN MANALISHI

Inspired by a song from Peter Green & Fleetwood Mac (the early Fleetwood Mac, not The Rumours crap)

    Lyrics:

    The green manalishi

    Written by Peter Green

Now, when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
The night is so black that the darkness cooks
Don’t you come creepin’ around - makin’ me do things I don’t want to

Can’t believe that you need my love so bad
Come sneakin’ around tryin’ to drive me mad
Bustin’ in on my dreams - making me see things I don’t wanna see

    Break:

’cause you’re da green manalishi with the two prong crown
All my tryin’ is up - all your bringin’ is down
Just taking my love then slippin’ away
Leavin’ me here just tryin’ to keep from following you

Collage GOD SAVE THE QUEEN (and Hitler, spot the differences!)

    God save the Queen
    the fascist regime,
    they made you a moron
    a potential H-bomb.

    God save the Queen
    she ain't no human being.
    There is no future
    in England's dreaming

Don't be told what you want
Don't be told what you need.
    There's no future
    there's no future
    there's no future for you

    God save the Queen
    we mean it man
    we love our queen
    God saves

    God save the Queen
    'cos tourists are money
    and our figurehead
    is not what she seems

    Oh God save history
    God save your mad parade
    Oh Lord God have mercy
    all crimes are paid.

    When there's no future
    how can there be sin
    we're the flowers
    in the dustbin
    we're the poison
    in your human machine
    we're the future
    you're future

    God save the Queen
    we mean it man
    we love our queen
    God saves

    God save the Queen
    we mean it man
    there is no future
    in England's dreaming

    no future for you
    no future for me

Is anyone still active here?  I was just thinking to start a Mail Art Music group, but here you are already.

So does anyone want to have an exchange / call?  Example; Mail Art about your favourite Love song; to arrive by the 14th of February 2017.

  • Rebecca Guyver

Dean, It's Christmas and I haven't sent you anything in a long time.  I like the idea of a love song music exchange!

Serendipity that I logged into IUOMA as you were posting.  I joined the group immediately!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Actually I wish I would have thought of a few ideas before launching into this exchange.  I hope the ideas surface now.  Because, You can't buy me Love.
