Mail Art for Music Lovers and Music Lovers for Mail Art. This Group is for anyone who wants to explore links between any type of Mail Art and any type of Music.
hello! can anybody help and tell me what file can be used as groups avatar - i have a rather small jpeg image but i seem to be unable to load it as avatar. what s the problem?
Folks have been asking should they send/swap music?
Well, I'm not sure that this aws the original intention of those who set up the Group, but this being IUOMA anything goes...so do what you want to (on the upbeat°;
I won't be showing off my rthymn guitar and Barorque and Renaissance alto recorder skills, but just stick to collages, etc.
EXACTLY 16 years ago I bought my Fender Stratocaster guitar.
I'm a musician and do a LOT of music-related mail art! My musical training is in composition, and I use bits of my own music in my postcards and other mail art. Here's something that I sent out for a recent mail art call, "4 senses."
While I was thinking about what to make, I thought about how quite a few famous and successful musicians are blind, including Diane Schuur, Clarence Carter, Marcus Roberts, and George Shearing (who just passed away).
This mail art call came from a group in Russia that provides services to persons with disabilities, so I did a little bit of looking around to find a Russian-language Braille alphabet. The dots in the red and yellow squares spell out the Russian word for "music."
Hurray! the avatar is on its place. the problem was my browser Opera. It doesnt read html code correctly on this site whereas IE reads it fine. thanks IE - you've been useful this time.
I suggest that you do both -- post here, and send your works to people.
I, for one, would like to exchange a Musical Spring peice with you.
My address is 1 rue de la Vieille Fontaine, F-11130 Sigean, France.
If enough folks in the Group would like to xchange a a piece, we could have a Special Organised Mailing (I have experience with these), when everyone who 'signs up' for it exchanges a piece -- which can be the same or different ones -- to all other partcipants, on say 15 March -- which, coincidentally happens to be the ides of March.
Please let me know if you are interested in such a Mailing.
Or what about april Showers (the kind which bring May flowers)? I mean, do we know of any April Fools Day songs? That might blow my chances for participation.Sorry, Carla.......
I can think of a few. Certainly more than April Fool's day--but then, our musical muse, Ms Carla herself, may have quite the backlog on her side. Some people have it all down when it comes to musical Trivial Pursuit!!
I think it's about time that our leader Maria F decided on what the theme should be. I was thinking about a May theme, and May Day came to mind. It has at least 2 meanings -- celebration of workers' rights/powers, etc, and the international distress signal: the two can be related of course.
To fellow Music Lovers: I've just heard from Our Leader Maria F that she has to devote all her time in the immediate future to her work and so has no time to look after our Group. That is why nothing has happened over the last week or so.
We need to keep things going otherwise I fear we'll lose our momentum.
ROSE: would you be kind enough to lead an April Fool and/or May Day mailing? set us the artistic theme, the deadline etc? And then we can get people to 'sign up' for it. And then we can keep things going.

Here is the new group for experiencing your musical favours in art. Everyone is welcome! Any ideas and projects are welcome!

Hello, everyone!
We are glad to annouce theme for March and it is
The Spring of Music
Please compose some Musical Mail Art (Music and/or Mail Art) with this theme in mind.
We can start exchanging it during the month of March...and then find another theme for April.
I hope that this will get our Group off to a good start.
Cheers,
MF

Well, we could go both ways, with april Fool's Day behind us, and May day yet to arrive, we are on the cusp of both.
But i'll wait till we hear again from Maria F. before proceeding to art it up.

Moi???
(blushing, stammering)
Okay. I say we go for either/or, each to their own discretion. Mailing by May 1st for My Day, mailing for April Foolishness before month's end.
Is that agreeable for everyone?

"My" = May, in this case.
My typing skills need revamping. Either that or I need a brain transplant. :P
