I think these are truly minimalist in every artistic sense. I'm always hoping for minimal work for AF2. Thx to Donmay.

He contacted me some time ago about our own Nancy Bell Scott and "eco-asemics," a concept launched in this group. So I assume we can read about NBS and probably other asemicists and visual poets we know and admire.

Here are some of my faves:

Asemic Front 2 collabs by Julie VanBortel Matevish (Rochester, NY, USA) & De Villo Sloan (me). The foundation is an inkblot by Julie VanBo. "Rorschach Vispo" was popularized some years ago by Cheryl Penn (South Africa) here at IUOMA-Ning.

These by you and Julie are downright beautiful, DVS.

Thank you, NBS. Julie is a real find. She's in the FB mail art groups on FB but hasn't made the move to IUOMA Ning yet.

Julie is also the spokesmodel for my Fake DK pieces.

I've been very fortunate to be able to put together an Asemic Front 2 post of FAB vispo (solo) by an old friend to many of us here: Alicia Starr Ryan (formerly of Iowa now of New Jersey, USA).

Alicia Starr Ryan exchanged mail and participated in vispo & asemic projects during that IUOMA vispo Golden Age with Cheryl Penn and others. Alicia is still making art and doing well.

I think this recent work is breakthrough stuff! Deepest thanks to Alicia Starr Ryan.

Beating the confinement blues, this is great time for collabs!

Kristine Snodgrass (Florida, USA) & I are doing an extended collab series,  part snail mail and part internet. Not all of it will turn up on AF2 so I'll share some of the results here hoping anyone else who wants to do asemic vispo collabs will jump in with starters, whatever.

Some really interesting process-oriented pieces by Kerri Pullo (Arizona, USA) at Asemic Front 2 from 2017-18 notebooks. A must for KP friends & fans!

The magazine Art in America includes a feature on asemic writing in it's May 2020 issue.
The article is "The Asemic Effect" by David Ebony and includes work by Cecil Touchan (IUOMA member); Scott Helmes (longtime visual poet); Federico Federici (visual poet); and Rosaire Appel (well-known asemic writer.
Books by Michael Jacobson's Post-Asemic Press are highlighted. Michael is curator of The New Post-Literates, A Gallery of Asemic Writing.
The article reviews Asemics: The Art of Writing by Peter Schwenger, which explores asemic writers/artists such as Nany Bell Scott and many others.
