Bruno, You sure have the eye for finding great asemic links!  I have bookmarked that link.  Thanks to ya.
  • cheryl penn

An acetate man!!!! FAB link Bruno :-) - thanks
  • prettylily

Bruno,  How did you get this texture?   A gal interested in process and techniques would like to know.  That is if you would care to share your secret.  Wax paper?  Rubbing?  I love how transparent it is and I am very much into that right now.

  • cheryl penn

This is the third time I am posting this message - ADMIN time - I hope everyone is on track with their work in one or another way. PLEASE - no pulling out of the project once the posting has started, This is unfair to the rest of the participants and part of joining a project is an undertaking to complete the exercise to the benefit of ALL the participants. It is not right to pullout when people have already gone to the trouble of making you a chapter. This means that everyone who has committed SHOULD still be in the project.  These collaborative efforts cannot work otherwise.
  • cheryl penn

As many of you are aware, Plush Possum Studio's has decided not to participate in the Asemics project. Please note - this means a change to Group 2.  We do not really want to interfere with book 4 - unless someone would like to take Rose's place. IF there is someone no problem.  Rose has undertaken to post back to the sender any pages she receives. For those of you who still have to post - please note the group is one short. Sorry about this everyone, sometimes life gets in the way
  • cheryl penn

Lisa - thank you - between all the IUOMA friends, this hiccup too will pass :-) - I think DVS is on top of this - otherwise, if you want to join - there is DEF space in the 4th group - thank you X
  • De Villo Sloan

Running through the first three editions, it looks like everything is in place again. Yes, Carl moved to ed #2. Kind of you Cheryl - yes, E is a total hero here as well as a fine asemic writer. Skybridge is a champ too. It does look like ed #4 is the open place again. That's an interesting one because there might be some real experiments there. So the deck is reshuffled. And everyone still on board is playing with a full deck ;)))
  • cheryl penn

I would just like to apologize for the reshuffle that happened between # 1 and # 2. There are logistical reasons for that - some of which we are all aware of.  IF anyone from either group has already posted to the OLD list - I undertake to copy and forward their work so that everyone receives work to/from whom they have sent. Thank you E for redoing. For those of you who have still not posted - please RELOOK at the addresses before sending. Macron has still not responded - BUT we have artists waiting to take his place if we dont hear from him - so - we're all on track? Any questions - we will do our best to answer.  I am also aware that there are MANY threads here.  These do NOT include all the inbox messages we receive :-) - so with such a large group - keep in touch as DVS says - its essential everyone is constantly kept up to date with progress and ALSO - who has and has not mailed.  Once work starts arriving to participants, we will open a new Receipt Discussion - Book # 1, Book # 2 etc.  If anyone HAS received work and would like to begin such a discussion - that would be excellent :-) - ok - any problems - PLEASE write X

Hi Sharon, I really like the pieces you've posted. I'm not sure if you scrolled down this thread - the artists have posted, like yours, interesting exterior shots that offer all kinds of possibilities for asemic writing. We've talked about street art too, and at least one person is working in that area. I think that's ivy or vines running across the painted shapes you posted? Excellent - nature and the human-made forming the text. BTW, I'm a big admirer of your Face of Jesus Project - from afar, but I watched it unfold. Congratulations.
  • Samuel Montalvetti

    Gracias Gracias

  • Alicia Starr

Uncertain what I will do for Asemic #4. but will greet the challenge.

  • De Villo Sloan

Hi Alicia, really nice work. I would think you could incorporate asemic writing into art like that easily. The results would probably be interesting. There are numerous examples of asemic work in the threads at this point using all types of different approaches.
  • Alicia Starr

thank you De Villo for your support.
  • cheryl penn

Alicia - nice! Looking forward to seeing what you will produce for Book # 4 :-)
  • De Villo Sloan

More great work by Samuel below. Samuel - Libros de Artista is an excellent group for people working in this area. Gracias!
  • Neil Gordon

I just joined the asemic group, do i wait for the next book call or send stuff to people n the group. I love alphabets  and letters as art, esp. from different languages! Neil
  • De Villo Sloan

Hi Neil and welcome. 4 asemic books are underway in the Asemics 16 project. Asemics 16 - #4 is still open for contributors. So look for the Asemics 16 # 4 thread and put your name and address in the stream. We'll add it to the list. Also, have a look at the previews to see what others are doing. That's a start - feel free to ask more questions.

    Cheryl Penn:

Till now I didn't understand the size of the paper (the A 4 in Brazil is 210 X 297 mm, "Carta" 215,9 X 279,4 mm or 8,5 X 11,0 " )or where to send the copies of my work. I think I must be sending to you, OK ?

    Thank you.

    KeppleR

  • cheryl penn

Morning Roberto.  The paper size you have is fine to use.  You will need to post a copy  to each of the participants in your group (Asemics # 2).  I have copied and pasted all the addresses onto your page for you to use.  I hope this is in order?  Project completion date – end July. Very glad you are participating.  I hope I get the translation right!

    The Eagle Has Landed!

My first Asemic pages received - from John Bennett - Will be posting with mine to all Group 2 participants :-)

  • De Villo Sloan

  • De Villo Sloan

Bruno, I understand because a lot of the work crosses over into vispo and other areas. But, this, what you're doing practically hurts. I hope you would reconsider.
  • De Villo Sloan

It's not timing Bruno. You were an important factor in building the group. Your ideas are here, believe it or not. It's a terrible loss. I'm not going to whine because it's not fair to you. I'll shut up.
  • cheryl penn

There's nothing to do. If Bruno wants out he wants out. Thats it. The fact that he can find no space to be at the BEGINNING of what may become something quite important - thats his choice.  If my work - or anyone elses for that matter does not fit Bruno's prescriptions of what is and what is not asemics?  So be it. Through time it has been that forefront efforts come under fire. There has never been (to my knowledge) a project such as this.  Out of this other things will grow.  Bruno - return all the work of the participants to me I will see that the new person gets the work. I just want to say lastly - sometimes its better to endure than to run, you get further.
  • De Villo Sloan

We had to do some unroutine maintenance. Everything up and running again. I think.
  • cheryl penn

We think its important for everyone to know that these are experimental books. This group is experimental. To tackle a group effort like this is not easy.  Thank you for all the support, We have artists who are wiling to step in, so we will let you know who they are. Thank you Bruno for saying you will return the work - to make it easier, as I said, just send it all to me, I will make sure the new participants get their work.
  • De Villo Sloan

I purposefully have tried to use the broadest definitions and concepts possible to give this array of artists maximum freedom to apply their talents and imaginations. Contrary to how it might appear, I personally am not interested in sitting around arguing about how many angels can fit on the head of a pin, or pinhead. Hey, you can always go to graduate school.
  • cheryl penn

Now that everyones vanished!!! I have EXCELLENT news :-) - I am the VERY proud owner of THREE pieces for these asemic books - E your FAB Asemics # 1 piece arrived today - I LOVE IT!!! And Sue Bowen - yours for # 2 - well done - another FAB - and of course On-word Johns which is a mystery I will blog on the morrow :-) - and I have my own contributions of course - that means I have SIX already!!! Keep them coming - I'm EXCITED!!!
  • DKeys

  • Mim Golub Scalin

Oh this is exciting. I'll have mine in the mail Saturday, which is my birthday and it's a gift to myself to complete this part of the project.
  • prettylily

I will be mailing my last three out tomroww.  Had to wait for Plush Possum to return what I sent her and so I waited until the other 2 addresses were confirmed.  They are waiting by the door now.  I want to get them out before our upcoming holiday weekend.  Looking forward to the incoming now!  You lucky ducks that have already received some!

  • cheryl penn

Hello - Yes, Bruno withdrew :-( - but he says he WILL be sending his pages back.
  • DKeys

I sent Bruno book One And book Three in the same envelope.  Cheryl, I hope you don't go into hiding after this project, never to organize anything again. I think I'd want to ride that donkey train out of town:)
