FROGS IN MY BASEMENT

hatchiman renegades pitching the woo
deadbeat free lunch fighters
all stand for "the star spangled banana"
low slung slim witless outpatients
crunching saccharine with hopped up eyes
wage a loathsome war upon western minds
"greetings grate let's dissipate"
joes metafistical smoking emporium sells
one dollar pamphlets on enlightenment
view'd thru oily narrow eyes
loaded on platters of monk mothbox

this greasy joint serves up cold slop hash
& benzedrine coffee for 50 cents
cheap enough to dip your bill

is the mail order Bubbah university beat or
square?

embrace the void on doo wop debris
strewn snidewalk & streetlight corners
thru concrete spring strange metal flowers
one million thumbs struck out
moan groan mewl slobber & howl
long gone beads bells shades & sandals
broadcast murderistic radio rambles
a forgotten perspective match my cigar
before I put you down & remember to
scatter your thoughts o' monkey minds

Amy Irwen (Minnesota, USA) sent me a stamp she received from Haddock - Blaster is the subject matter.

I want to go through the replies to the interview again. He sent me a lot of stuff besides the answers that hasn't been documented yet. Would make a lovely tribute. Only have so little time and want to do so much......

Blaster was a comic genius. I never met Al in person, but we corresponded back in the 80"s and early 90's . I lost track of him it seems once he moved from Texas to Baltimore. I remember receiving stuff in the mail that was so funny tears would flow from my eyes. I' sorry to hear of his passing. I still from time to time pull out his wonderful painted envelopes that are still a delight to look at.

Thanks for the photos John. Nice to see Blaster in these domestic settings - always with a fizzy drink I see!
