After looking at Sol LeWitt’s instruction-based drawings, I tried writing a small drawing score of my own.
I would like to see what happens when the instructions travel without an accompanying image. If anyone feels like trying one interpretation, please post the result below. I will keep my own version hidden for the moment so as not to influence the first readings.
==== tHE InstructionS ====
Establish a vertical axis within an upright rectangular grid. The grid may be regular, found or drawn by hand.
Select one intersection on the axis as the centre.
On the left of the axis, select two groups of three to five intersections: one above the centre and one below it. Connect each group with straight lines to form two closed polygonal wings. Connect both wings to the centre and divide each into two or three fields.
Reflect the entire construction across the vertical axis.
Along the axis, draw a narrow organic body in curved lines, broader above the centre and tapering to a point below it. From its upper end, draw two straight diverging lines terminating at grid intersections.
Use black lines of uniform width. No internal line may extend beyond a wing.
Grid may remain visible or be removed.
