they do. but to be honest i'd never really heard of them before they were featured as postage stamps. did you see the comment i left on your profile? i put a link to the wikipedia on them.
That's also a neat detail, but i especially mean the blue character on top of the mailbox :D Do these mascots have specific names?
glad you liked it all. the mailboxes here are green or red. green for local mail and red for overseas or speedpost. so they're hanging out on a mailbox for local mail.
