On October 10, my beautiful husband passed away.  He had been chronically ill for a long time and frankly, he was ready.  He told me he wasn't afraid, and he would welcome it.  He is at peace, but me?  I am a basket case.  I'm gutted.  Nothing feels real.

What is important for IUOMA purposes is, I have spent the last several months taking care of him, and now, well, I have almost nothing to do.  Lots of free time.  I am hoping to pick up making mailart again.  While I am grieving, I feel disconnected from people.  I don't promise to make amazing art, but if someone wanted to send me something, I would send something back.  I will (of course) begin sending stuff again in any case, because if you want to get mail, you have to send mail.

I plan to create a mailart call in the near future as well, probably on loss or death or something that feels relevant to me.  Could be gardening or cats or living alone, which are also relevant.  Never know.  Trying to process, and trying to move on, so we'll see how it all falls out.

Sorry for your loss. Mailart helped me a lot this year in a period of change and losses.

And what is amazing art ? I think it is all in the eye of the beholder and part of a/the process.

Wishing you strength in this difficult time.

So sorry for your loss, you came to the right place: make and send and receive mail art! My husband of 30 years passed away in 2002 ( 22 years have passed, really?) . Art saved my life and also honors those who have left us.

Do flowers and blue skies , circles and just colors of joy to honor the joys you shared with your husband and fill yourself and your art with the warmth of happy memories.

I am so sorry for your loss. I started up with mail art again during the pandemic.  I live alone and it keeps me sane.
Send me your snail mail address and I will send you something . P4penelo.p@gmail.com
