“THE WORLD IN MILAN, MILAN IN THE WORLD”: THE FIRST EDITION OF “FUORI BIT”.

 

 

 

Milan 7 February 2011 – 20 nations and 23 locations involved to host events, photographic exhibitions, musical performances and food and wine tasting events that will liven up the entire city in the spirit of internationalism from the 17 to the 19 February 2011.

“Milan in the World and the World in Milan” this is the titled coined by the Milan City Council to present the first edition of Fuori Bit on the occasion of the Borsa Internazionale del Turismo, (International Tourism Fair).  To mark the occasion Néo, International Email Magazine (www.neoenews.com) will dedicate a special feature to mark this unique international event   in its edition to be published on the 14 February in 5 languages.

The Fuori Bit poster is full of events from fashion happy hour, inaugurations, food and wine tastings, exclusive parties, to concerts and fashion shows that will involve all countries all over the world.  Nations and Tourism Boards will mix together for the first with the Milanese streets and traditions.  From 17 to 20 February, Milan's city center becomes a big South African
natural park. From 6 pm to midnight, the people in Milan will have the chance to see the famous Big Five (elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards,buffalos)  projected on some of the most important historical buildings
of the city.

Serbia will present an unusual itinerant concert on a double decker bus, while Russia, Greece, Argentina and Portugal will be focus on the evening of the 18 of February in the “Brera IN night”, the historical quarter will have late night closing for all its shops to host singers, photographic exhibitions and performances by various foreign artists present in the city.  From the 17 to the 19 of February there will be a Nordic atmosphere at the Rotonda della Besana thanks to Sweden, who has created a rather unusual reconstruction of the Forest of Sleipnir to mark the occasion.  The colours and the atmosphere of Spain will be on show in a Seville style evening in the courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi (18 February), while photos by Milanese photographers will bring Jordan to life at Palazzo Morando. The flavours of France will be on display on the 18 of February at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, where foie gras will meet the Milan Brand Panettone (spiced brioche with sultanas).  On the same day Holland will be at the Triennale Design Museum for an encounter between design and creativity, while Africa will be at Fuori Bit thanks to Gambia which will celebrate its national festival in the Tortona area. Also in the Tortona area there will be the eternal challenge between Italy-Germany with an unprecedented event involving the best known home made beers.  On the 17 of February there will be a “party aperitif” that will be held in the Isola area of the city that will be animated by the sounds and colourful presence of Croatia and Slovenia.

Fuori Bit will also be a journey of tastes with the “Restaurant tour in Milan”,  six young chefs who on Friday the 18 of February will open their restaurants by taking a novel approach to the culinary traditions of: Scotland, Greece, Thailand, France, Japan and Morocco.  To end the event in the most authentic style on Saturday the 19, the Cascina Cuccagna will organise guided visits and food and wine tastings of locally grown produce.

These are just a few of the numerous events planned to enliven Milan from the centre to the suburbs. Particular locations out of the ordinary for an enjoyable, culturally enriching Fuori Bit also thanks to participation of the city universities’ main Erasmus project Associations.

All information, the programme and means of access to Fuori Bit will be available to use and manage through various means both via internet and mobile phone. There will be an IPhone and Smartphone application that will assist in integrating and finding the different locations around the city. Fuori Bit will also have its own events page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/FuoriBit-Milano/186003004765847) linked to the official Milan and Tourism Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/turismo.milano).  All national and international visitors will be able to use a free Wi-Fi connection in the main event locations.
