Sure, that was Godard's political phase w/ all the Marxist-Maoist preaching or whatever the position was.

1968 produced another botched documentary - "Let it Be" - some similarities with that and "ONE PLUS ONE" I've always thought.

Jean-Luc Godard made a documentary of the making of "Sympathy for the Devil" released in 1968 w/Brian Jones still alive. My fav artifact of the song's long, lurid history.

I was in California during that time... very different then... lots of hope mixed with fear and loathing... a nasty brew.  The Angel were what was called security at Altamont... that worked well... I am honored to have such a rare piece for the collection here... many thanks

As ever, you refine the accuracy of my generalization.

Here is my addition: The Stones stopped playing "Sympathy for the Devil" after the disastrous Altamont Speedway Festival of 1969? (the anti-Woodstock) - documented in the movie "Gimme Shelter." The song was removed from the tour playlists for several decades, as far as I understand. Yes, now that the bad vibes are gone they are performing it again.

There are no bad vibes in the crushed cans. You move ahead with new things, perhaps. Not wishing to simply repeat the old classics.

So typical! Like the Stones refusing to play "Sympathy for the Devil." You walk away from your trademark.

You can't beat the classics. Or maybe the crushed cans are Beat classics.
