I received this very nice collection of items from Juana Almaguer last Saturday. At first I had mistaken the item for a sort of postcard, as it was so thin and taped on all sides, and the envelope was just so wonderfully done in ink with a coyote print on rice paper glued on. The quote on the envelope is attributed to Tennyson and reads "Like a dog...hunt in your dreams." This envelope is made from found paper, i.e., a pamphlet cover. Juana let me know that the coyote head was an intaglio print.

On the inside of the envelope was a kind, handwritten letter with a leaf print on the top to accompany an excellent lino print of a male figure on found, thin bookkeeping paper. The shoulders and upper torso of the figure are outlined in some intriguing, asemic, delicate scribbles, while out of the top of the hand and giving interest to the chest area are images of cogs from a stamp.

Every piece of this mail was a delight, and I'm more inspired than ever to learn how to be a decent printmaker (and experiment more with found objects/found papers to print and stamp with).
